The Sr Engineer of Design Conformity and Dimensional Management is the leader in defining processes, methodologies, and instructions supporting the design engineering roles on all Bell programs.

This person provides training and oversight of design processes, to include engineering development, product definition, technical data management, and engineering change records.

In addition, this person will be the recognized company subject matter expert in dimensioning and tolerancing relating to ANSI Y14.

5 and ASME Y14.5 including revisions 1966, 1973, 1982, and 1994.

Responsibilities :

  • Define use of enterprise systems, processes, methodologies, and implementation strategies on development and production activities.
  • Provide council and advice to senior management regarding engineering systems implementation, methods, and best practices.
  • Provide mentoring and classroom instruction regarding complex engineering topics, including engineering drawing annotation, digital product definition, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Establish a standardized method for performing tolerance and variation analysis, and define the enterprise drafting and modeling strategy.
  • Maintain Engineering Policy and Procedures (P&P), coordinate with the Engineering Process Review Board (EPRB), and disseminate Engineering EPRB and P&P information.
  • Maintain the Bell Innovation and Technology Design Conformity processes regarding knowledge retention, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Interface with quality and manufacturing on matters of drawing interpretation relating to ANSI Y14.5 and ASME Y14.5 1966, 1973, 1982, and 1994.
  • Represent Bell within external technical committees and organizations regarding engineering documentation.
  • Qualifications

    Education and Experience :

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering related discipline
  • Senior level certification to ASME Y14.5M-1994 or ASME Y14.5-2009 is beneficial.
  • Minimum of 20 years of design engineering or engineering analysis experience and continuous experience with GD&T.
  • Position Requirements :

  • Must be an expert in engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • oKnow and understand American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Y14 series standards and differences between releases, especially Y14.

    5, Y14.24, Y14.34, Y14.35, Y14.41, and Y14.100.

    oKnow and understand technical product documentation

    oKnow and understand digital product definition data practices

    oKnow and understand standards for product data representation and exchange

  • Ability to instruct classes, such as GD&T to ASME Y14.5M-1994 and Understanding Engineering Drawings Basic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and able to learn new software.
  • Candidate must demonstrate solid communication skills to be able to collaborate or exchange complex information with industry and internal professionals across all organizational levels.
  • Candidate should be highly organized and efficient.
  • Some travel may be required (<10%)
  • Ideal Candidates Also Have :

  • Practical and working knowledge of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and associated markings.
  • Basic understanding of the following software products ENOVIA 2013x, CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, and Unigraphics.
