We are looking for an exceptional individual to take full ownership of sales for Tessella’s global Energy sector, which currently primarily conducts business in the UK, Holland and the US.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Energy sector meets its annual revenue and gross profit targets.

Reporting to the CEO, you will have responsibility for agreeing and delivering on the global Energy sector strategy, including the prioritising of clients and service offerings.

You will be managing a small team of Energy sector sales staff and will be actively engaged in all aspects of the sales process.

Ideally the position would be based out of our Head Office in Abingdon, but given that there will be extensive travel involved, we would be equally happy to consider candidates who wish to be based from one of our other UK offices (Burton upon Trent, Stevenage, Warrington) or our US office in Houston.


  • Establish and nurture strong client and prospect relationships.
  • Ensure the delivery of high quality proposals to clients.
  • Plan the global Energy sector strategy and maintain it in line with changing market conditions.
  • Liaise closely with the marketing department to plan and implement marketing strategies, including dedicated marketing campaigns.
  • Attend industry conferences, events and workshops where you will give presentations or undertake face to face sales engagements on exhibition stands.
  • Provide comprehensive monthly reporting to the CEO, including revenue and order intake forecasts.
  • Line Manage a small team of energy sector sales staff and direct and mentor them to ensure that they meet their individual targets.
  • Liaise closely with the European & US Operations Directors and their office managers to facilitate the optimisation of resourcing, recruitment and training plans.
  • Travel to client offices in locations around Europe and North America.

    To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience :

  • 10+ years of experience of selling IT related consultancy services within the Oil and Gas sector
  • Familiarity with the Nuclear and Energy Distribution markets.
  • Experience of owning, and delivering against, £M targets.
  • General understanding of the Upstream, Downstream and Midstream businesses within the Oil and Gas industry, with detailed understanding of at least one of these.
  • A good grasp of the Oil and Gas industry supplier ecosystem, including the relationships between super majors, national oil companies, tier 1 service companies and tier 2 specialist service providers.
  • Broad understanding of the various software development life cycles and most common development environments / tools etc.
  • High level understanding of analytics / maths / statistics and how they are used in the Oil and Gas industry.
