Our aim is to continue being the data and analytics leader in the UK general insurance market and this role holds responsibility to implement a vast range of statistical modelling and machine learning techniques, predicting customer behaviour and optimising every price to maximise our customer value.
The Data Science team work collaboratively with our pricing, fraud, marketing and underwriting teams to produce bespoke models, customer insight and data products to effectively target prospects and support in risk assessment.
Your remit will include the following;
Develop predictive models and algorithms to support business decisions
Work with business domains to help shape the right questions
Driving innovation and R&D within the organisation to leverage bespoke and scalable Big Data platforms
Mine large & growing volumes of data to find actionable insights to drive ongoing improvements
Be part of a production oriented team
Clear presentation of findings and guiding next steps at various points in product lifecycle
Run optimisations to achieve commercial trading objectives and spot market opportunities

A BSc / MSc in Statistics / Computer Science / Physics / Operational Research / Engineering / Maths or other quantitative field (a PhD is a major plus)
Good knowledge of what's "Under the hood" of statistical methods (and preferably knowing how to utilize them in R, Python or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of SQL. HiveQL advantageous.
The desire to learn & keep up with the latest technologies to stay ahead of the curve
Ability to time manage and a hunger to learn within a collaborative team
Experience of Spark / Distributed Computing desirable.
