NHBC has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Construction Technician (MMC Systems) to join our team working from our head office in Milton Keynes.
You will work on a full time, permanent basis and earn a highly competitive salary of £37,500 £44,000 per annum.
The purpose of the job is to review submitted information on MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) to help determine if the MMC systems would be acceptable for use in homes covered by NHBC’s Buildmark warranty.
The job holder will review drawings, specifications and other technical information submitted to NHBC and coordinate the review, where required, with structural engineers, fire engineers and building control surveyors.
As a technical specialist within Standards, Innovation and Research, the job holder will contribute to the setting and delivery of NHBC's technical policy, represent NHBC on external and internal technical committees, support the development of NHBC technical publications and provide expert advice on innovative materials, products and systems.
The job holder is to liaise closely with manufacturers, builders, design consultants and developers to understand the system, visiting site and manufacturing facilities where necessary.
The job holder will identify key risks with MMC and communicate them effectively to colleagues around the business to give confidence to home owners in the quality of homes built with MMC systems.
Senior Construction Technician (MMC Systems)
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will offer experience of working in house building or production of construction specifications and design details.
You will already offer an understanding of construction technology and will be educated to degree level or a relevant technical qualification.
You will have experience in making complex technical decisions and be able to assess construction details from first principles.
Good organisational skills and an ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks are essential.
Desirable experience will include the following :
A typical background for a Senior Construction Technician could be any of the following capacities : Architectural Technician, Building Surveyor or a similar discipline within the construction industry.
