Description

The Product and Portfolio Manager is responsible for capturing requirements and planning the roadmap of development required to support the UK Online business.

This includes recruiting and leading a team of Regional Product Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and PMO Specialists.

Key to the role is owning and managing the two-way flow of information between the Product and Portfolio teams at a global level and the brand teams trading their individual websites in the UK ensuring the Global product roadmap is evangelized to the UK teams and their requirements are well represented within it.

Strong relationships will be required with the Online Delivery Manager within the UK as well as the Global P&P functions in New York and other regions.

This role will suit an individual with strong relationship management and PMO experience as well as an eye for detail for customer proposition and solid experience of managing an ecommerce product roadmap.

They will also act as a deputy to the Head of Online Production within the London site.

Decision Making 20%

Takes responsibility for the UK development roadmap, within context of global roadmaps product strategies.

Makes initial decisions on business cases, priorities and sequencing of work for the UK, communicating / escalating through regular meetings where necessary

Able to contribute to wider decision making as part of online, production and global P&P leadership teams advocate

Problem Solving 20%

Works with the UK brand teams to understand business drivers and outcomes and plans and prioritizes demand to maximize business benefit both for the UK business and the UK contribution to the global product roadmap.

Uses experience and analytics to propose pragmatic solutions to problems and to prioritize scope where appropriate.

Acts as first point of escalation for UK based brand teams and escalates within the region or globally where appropriate.

Deals with team performance or ad hoc personal issues that will impact on the team or individual output.

Independence of Action and Accountability 10%

Works independently alongside UK and global stakeholders to set strategy, manage resources, establish P&P processes and produce quality plans with regular check-

ins to ensure alignment with Head of Production and VP of Online UK Budget Responsibility 20%

Ensures headcount and contract staff budgets within own team are used effectively throughout the peaks and troughs of the year to deliver an optimum service.

Recruits and rewards within forecast budgets

Collaborates with the Delivery Manager and Global PMO to ensure UK roadmap is forecast accurately and managed to budget

Leadership 35%

The most senior Product focused resource within the Online production department universally respected for their experience, capability and advice with the wider online team.

Spots opportunities to improve capability across our technical products globally and drives the change required.

Takes a visible, leading position in the formation of global standards for product and project planning and execution processes.

Drives the adoption of correct tooling to increase the efficiency of planning processes

Develops the product and portfolio team through relevant training and line management ensuring strong performance, clear personal development and good succession planning.

Able to develop strong relationships with global and other regional teams and most importantly with the brand teams in the UK.

Able to gain trust and inspire confidence in teams that have been used to driving their own agenda through regular, strong and clear communication of the new collective direction.

Travel may be required.
