Job Title : Laboratory Technician

Hours : 37.5 per week

Job Location : Ellesmere Port

As a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for analysing used oil samples in accordance with analytical test procedures,meeting customer requirements and recording results on appropriate LIMS ITsystem.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsiblefor analysis of samples in compliance with the client or company specified testmethods ensuring results are reported within KPI targets.
  • Responsiblefor accurately entering laboratory test data into relevant IT LIMS systemensuring results are reported.
  • Wherepossible provide front line maintenance, calibration and quality checks oflaboratory equipment, allowing for the smooth and efficient operation of thelaboratory.
  • Promptlyinform your Team Leader if a piece of equipment is not operating correctly to minimisinginaccuracies and errors and ensure KPI’s are met.
  • Help tobuild a good working relationship between colleagues, other teams and clients to reduce inefficiencies and capture all businessopportunities.
  • Reportnear misses and other NCR’s / CAPRs / NIRs to the Laboratory Team Leader andregister on the company’s quality system.
  • As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll receive a salary between £18,000 and£23,000, depending on experience, plus you’ll benefit from a 10% performance bonus, retail discount scheme, private health cover a fter 1 years’ service , a contributorypension scheme and life cover.

    Essential :

  • Laboratoryexperience, preferably in the petrochemical industry, or similar workingenvironment.
  • Able to follow procedures and processes.
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to learn and adapt to change.
  • Able to organise and prioritise accordingly.
  • Effective interpersonal skills (communication, activelistening, etc).
  • Computer literate, e.g.Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer,LIMS systems etc.
  • GCSE / ONC in ascience subject. Chemistry is preferable.
  • GCSE Grade A C (or equivalent) Mathematics, EnglishLanguage.
  • Desirable :

  • Experience of working in a fast moving, customerservice role, delivering quality goods within fixed time scales.
  • Working knowledge of IP,ASTM, BS, and other test methods.
