Role Purpose

  • The AWS Cloud Onboarding & Billing Analyst acts as first point of contact for the global AWS Platform team, and administers a seamless front door’ service for new projects wanting to host applications on Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure.
  • The Onboarding & Billing Analyst works closely with project teams and internal governance functions to ensure only approved services are provisioned access to AWS.

    This person will also take responsibility for supporting the billing and re-charge process for AWS costs.

    Impact on Business

    The AWS Onboarding & Billing Analyst will be accountable for :

  • Running the front door cloud onboarding process
  • Streamlining and identifying opportunities to automate process steps to ensure minimum lead times in the provision of AWS accounts
  • Maintaining account and project metadata in the Cloud Management Portal and ensuring it is accurate
  • Supporting the Global Cloud Services COO in the billing and recoveries of AWS costs
  • The AWS Onboarding & Billing Analyst will be responsible for :

  • Acting as first point of contact for new projects engaging the AWS Platform team
  • Maintaining a view of all AWS project requests
  • Supporting projects through cloud governance (EHC, CEC)
  • Coordinating project reviews for new cloud requests (e.g. architecture review)
  • Capturing and maintaining key project data (e.g. service owner, cost centre etc.)
  • Setting up new accounts in AWS
  • Implementing HSBC standards (aka guard rails’) for all new accounts
  • Ensuring accounts are correctly classified
  • Responding to project queries during set-up and development
  • Managing and maintaining multi-factor authentications tokens and root access to each account
  • Closing unused accounts ensuring all user access is revoked, infrastructure is cleaned, active directory access groups are deleted and access tokens revoked
  • Providing ad-hoc reporting for analysis conducted on AWS environments
  • Providing cost reports as required by the GCS COO to support billing and recoveries of AWS services
  • Qualifications

  • Excellent stakeholder and communications skills
  • Ability to be dynamic and flexible in a fluid environment
  • Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as in a PMO / project support capacity within an IT function
  • Desirable Skills

  • Experience of working with AWS
  • Completed AWS Business and Technical Essentials training
  • Experience of working with Agile DevOps tooling such as Jira / Confluence
  • Programme / Project certified (e.g. AgilePM, P3O, PMI or Prince 2 Practitioner)
  • Experience operating in highly regulated industry, e.g. Financial Services
