Senior Supply Chain Specialist, based in High Wycombe, UK

As the Senior Supply Chain Specialist you will be responsible for supporting on-site production through MRP execution and demand knowledge analysis.
Establish strategic & tactical purchasing initiatives that drive the overall improvement of the business. Using KPIs to show improvements and drive improvement actions.
Lead the Supply Chain team through process development, data analysis, coaching & practical hands-on engagement
The Senior Supply Chain Specialist will ideally have the following skill / attributes :
Completed A-levels with Level 4 or higher CIPS certification or relevant tertiary diploma / degree (relevant work experience would be considered)
Knowledge of purchasing concepts in a manufacturing environment
Advanced working knowledge and use of ERP and MRP for BOM, scheduling, forecast analysis, and capacity planning
Operation and interpretation of MRP process
Work experience with New Product Introduction management
Work experience in developing category and supplier management strategies
Computer literacy good knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word essential
Good negotiation skills
Ability to analyse cost effectiveness and make sound business decisions
A working knowledge of Kanban / Pull Systems / other JIT
Raising tenders, undertaking quotation assessment and ability to analyse costs in relation to market analysis
Experience of purchasing from global suppliers would be an advantage
Ability to effectively analyse and present numerical data
Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
Understanding of Project Management concepts and tools.
Able to analysis complex problems and break it down into actionable elements.
Knowledge of engineering concepts related to design for manufacture, pre-production, industrial engineering, purchasing and supply chain processes, integration, cost effectiveness, quality, and readiness for production.
New product focus, team work skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills
Key responsibilities for the Senior Supply Chain Specialist
Proactively ensure execution of PO placement to plan and be the Supply commodity expert.
Providing a focal point of contact within the Supply Chain Team. Understand commodity material availability. Be an escalation point concerning improvement activities and performance and matters related to procurement and material expedition as required.
Providing a focal point of contact for the Supply Chain at all stages of the product life cycle. Adding additional support as required, especially in the NPI phases and launch phases.
Acts as liaison between the project teams and the responsible Supply Chain Specialists for all supply chain related items.
Thrive for early engagement building relationships across the business highlighting Supply Chain Strategies and that projects are incorporated into strategic plans and activities.
Leads the process of ECR / ECO, (Engineering Change Requests / Orders) for the procurements function to ensure that timely reviews & analysis of changes are completed and affectivity is managed and controlled to cycle the change both in and aim for zero material shortages, excess and obsolesce.
Provides a focal point of consolidation and reporting on day to day performance issues supporting OI manufacturing requirements focusing on actions from daily stand-up meetings.
Support the Supply Chain Managers in developing and analysing data of the Supply Chains performance on OI’s business requirements, targets and objectives.
Review variations and outcomes in areas such as OTD, PPV, Quality, Demand Stability, Order Placement, Lead-times Supplier commitments etc, to drive operational efficiency within OI.
Supports the Supply Chain Manager in monthly reporting to ensure that reports generate valuable data and are prepare and issued on time.
Build A strong understanding of the current and future MRP systems used within OINA in order to maximise usability and to fully exploit the capability of the system for improvement / performance initiatives.
Support the OINA demand planning process through demand analysis against order placement / delivery commitments.
Identify and lead shortage reduction initiatives across the supply chain team.
Co-ordinate liability and obsolescence reporting as part of NPI and ECO management
Negotiate commercial terms for new parts (e.g. price, tooling, payment, delivery, order mechanisms) following Group Supply Chain and Ops Supply Chain Management for assigned commodities.
Work with the Supply Chain team to provide early warning of supply chain component risks and ensure these are highlighted and communicated to the project teams.
Support the Supply Chain commodity leads to develop contingency strategy for high-risk components and suppliers.
Identify and drive make versus buy opportunities, value engineering activities and other cost reduction exercises.
Work with Operations Teams to implement Kanban, VMI and other JIT delivery systems.
Manage Balanced Scorecard KPIs (Quality / Delivery / Cost) to achieve best practice targets. Develop KPIs and scorecards as required.
Work to reduce the number of MRP transactions by making use of Kitting parts (e.g. metalwork, cables etc)
