We are looking for an IT support engineer to join the IT team at our production facility in Northumberland. The role will focus on system administration and end-user support as well as server maintenance and monitoring.

This role requires someone with excellent inter-personal communication skills, strong 1st line troubleshooting skills and experience of working in an IT support / helpdesk or desktop support role.

Key responsibilities :

  • Support and maintenance of Microsoft server infrastructure
  • Support of VMware environment and SAN
  • Microsoft Windows System Administration
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration, including Exchange
  • Network troubleshooting / maintenance
  • Daily hands-on and remote end-user support of applications, operating systems and Hardware needs.
  • Ensuring daily data backups are carried out and data archives maintained correctly.
  • Asset management
  • Purchasing of IT peripherals and consumables
  • Essential skills :

  • Microsoft Server Administration - Active Directory, DHCP, DNS
  • Microsoft Windows and Apple OS Support - diagnosing network issues, installations, updates, configuration and remote support including iPhone OS
  • Microsoft O365 Tenant management, Exchange administration and desktop application support.
  • Desktop hardware maintenance and support
  • VMware VM management
  • Experience with managed network switch / VLAN management
  • Printer support (local and networked)
  • Antivirus deployment and management
  • Experience of firewall / UTM monitoring and management
  • Good communication skills
  • Proactive attitude ideally someone who enjoys IT and enjoys trying new apps, devices and systems
  • Desirable / beneficial skills :

  • Experience of VEEAM backup and replication
  • Use of Jira Issue & project tracking or similar tool
  • Management of Sophos XG UTM preferred
  • Experience of HP Network Switches preferred
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001 : Information Security, practices
