This role reports via the Global Business Services (GBS) procurement function within BP where our Vice President reports into the Group CFO.
Within GBS procurement the IT Sourcing Team is responsible for an overall spend of some $1.6 billion pa across 7 sub-categories including applications development & maintenance, platform services, software, hardware, workplace services, network services and market data.
Integrated Supply & Trading (IST) is in the middle of the BP supply chain with responsibilities to trade around BP’s upstream and downstream assets.
The Sourcing team that supports IST IT&S has an exciting opportunity and challenge to understand and support the diverse nature of the business areas and balance their specific needs with the drive for standardisation and simplification that are high on the central IT&S agenda.
The IST teams are globally located with centres in London, Houston, Singapore and Chicago.This job holder will work across stakeholders in the IST segment and will be expected to operate effectively as a GBS Procurement, IT Sourcing professional and leader with expertise in procurement and vendor management to provide a full range of products and services purchased by IST.
This role includes providing GBS Procurement commercial leadership, management of operational escalations, extensive supplier management, and leading sourcing activities.
This role is based in the London centre for IST (20 Canada Square) and will support the Category Sourcing Director IST and will be part of the global team with responsibility for providing procurement leadership for the IST segment’s needs.
The team is also responsible for providing front-line support in designing and deploying our transactional activities into IT Sourcing, and to work in partnership with our GBS Procurement colleagues to ensure successful delivery of transactional procurement.
Key accountabilities :
Execute against the strategy and annual plan for the segment that includes :
Develop and execute appropriate supplier governance to effectively manage third parties, participating in supplier relationship governance meetings including performance reviews and obligations tracking and value leakage prevention.
Maintain supplier performance management materials such as metrics and scorecards to drive desired vendor behaviour / required outcomes.
Execute the full sourcing process which includes development of scope, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, contract execution and supplier management.
Drive to remedy inconsistent supplier performance across the enterprise and improve supplier performance whilst optimising allocation of spend.
Ensure that Service Levels are measured, reviewed, and reported on correctly.
Modify Service Levels and create new Service Levels over the terms of the agreements.
Ensure the GBS Procurement common processes are implemented, used and continually improved.
Participate in company networks, sharing information, best practices and lessons learned.
Lead with a One Team’ approach within GBS Procurement.
Lead procurement projects including the negotiation of contracts & commercial terms consistent with maximizing business value for BP.
Build and manage supplier relationships as well as measure / report the value delivered.
Track and report on supplier issues and deliver upon continuous improvement opportunities.
Maximise the value of contracts throughout BP.
Essential Education :
Degree, business / professional qualification (eg. MCIPS) or equivalent experience
Essential experience and job requirements :
Material and demonstrable applied expertise in Market Data / IT Procurement / Application Services / IT Operations and applying industry best practice.
Ability to articulate or develop a detailed scope of requirements for Market Data and IST IT&S Projects
Good first degree and or CIPS (or similar).
Ability to interpret contract language and develop a position.
Specific experience of operating within a global matrixed organisation. With a proven track record of influencing large teams of a diverse nature.
Demonstrable negotiation skills with experience in negotiating or supporting the negotiation of commercial IT contracts.
Demonstrated ability to engage mid to senior business managers and IT personnel in an influential manner to win over stakeholder consensus.
Support and promote BP’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment and Diversity & Inclusion agendas.
Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable criteria & qualifications :
Specific and in depth understanding of the Market Data and IST IT&S categories, supply trends and value drivers.
Understanding of Indirect Procurement tools and systems.
In depth experience of managing high value multi-vendor strategic supplier relationships.
Relevant professional experience and certification e.g. Service Delivery (ITIL Certification), Procurement (CIPS / VM certification), IT Project Management (PMP Certification) or equivalents.
Experience working in the energy industry with awareness of industry needs & business challenges.
Specific experience around Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and retail business.
