As a Site Environmental Health & Safety Manager , you will be responsible for championing & monitoring safety & environmental activities on the Basingstoke Site, to ensure compliance with legislative requirements & to advise management on safety & environmental standard methodology
As the Site EHS lead at our Global Microbiology Headquarters, the role will have a heavy emphasis on Process, Chemical and Biological Safety and preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate they have a relevant background or aptitude in one or more of these fields.
Our team is looking for someone who has previous Health & Safety experience, ideally within a pharmaceutical or food industry.
However, we also welcome applications from anyone who has an understanding of chemicals, mechanical operations, machinery and safety environment
The successful candidate will be based on site, between both Basingstoke sites, which are within a 3mile radius of each other.

Your responsibilities :
Ensure that the appropriate EHS measures are embedded on site and that these measures are driving the appropriate behaviours and culture
Understand, maintain, and update compliance records to be able to demonstrate full compliance to all UK environmental & safety legislation & regulations that are applicable to the site
Lead / participate in investigations and recommend actions to address safety, regulatory, and licensing considerations for future business activities.
Develop policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain compliance and drive
Partner with site leadership to ensure they are aware of their specific duties towards employees and non-employees with regards to environmental, health and safety regulations and have identified and provided appropriate training for all employees, including designated EHS Representatives.
Partner with site managers in ensuring that all significant risks to health and safety are identified and assessed and that appropriate risk control measures are implemented and maintained.
Ensure that accident and incident investigations are timely, effective, remedial actions are completed and lessons are learned and shared across the business.
Collaborate closely with any company insurers & their agents in matters pertaining to EHS on site
Liaise with local HR team in the effective use of Occupational Health resources & intensify issues to Division
Participate in site cross auditing activities across the EMEA region
How will you get here?
Holds an IOSH qualification at basic entry level, with a HND or above / equivalent in Health &Safety
Has solid understanding of regulatory requirements, strong interpersonal and communication skills, general math and digital literacy, and ability to provide solutions through suggestions for process improvement
Is experienced leading Environmental, Health and Safety in a manufacturing and laboratory environment with strong experience in driving a safety culture.
Is a self-starter, confident, with good interpersonal skills, being able to communicate, influence and work at all levels across the organization
Experience of implementing standard methodologies, policies, procedures and process across different sites, ensuring consistency in application where appropriate
