As On Network Works (ONW) Associate Sponsor you will have the support of your Sponsor to complete critical delivery of key milestones for HS2 Ltd, supporting the development of the high-speed strategy onto the conventional network.
This role is ideal if you have a dynamic personality, enjoy collaboration and have an interest in project management. You will work in an open and honest environment, always engaging with your key stakeholders to complete key deliverables to keep the programme progressing.
You will be in a fast-paced environment where no one day is the same, always learning and challenging yourself, working jointly with HS2 Ltd to enabling programme and budgetary commitments to be fulfilled.
Your scope of works will primarily be in the Midlands region, ultimately allowing HS2 Ltd to bring trains into Curzon Street Station these are high profile critical path activities, as challenging as they are rewarding.
You will be part of the ONW team within the North West & Central (NW&C) Region which consists of three routes :
North West Route, covering Manchester, Liverpool, Lancashire and Cumbria.
Central Route, covering the West Midlands and Chiltern areas.
West Coast Mainline South Route*, covering the West Coast main line south of Crewe to London Euston.
About the role (External)
Work as part of the sponsor team to manage specific schemes and work streams
Support the interests of the funder, customer or partner where appropriate within Network Rail
Actively participate in the remit process; reviewing and commenting on client, customer, and partner requirements to test the viability of proposed schemes taking in to account value for money, network availability and capacity for future development and whole life cost
Under direction, produce investment papers and support the business case process (as needed)
Provide input to the development of the initial project plan and budget; working with your manager and project manager to specify how the project will be delivered;
encouraged achievements and associated timescales, risks and issues
Supervise progress on projects / programmes against agreed budgets, delivery plans and work programmes, challenging delivery partners as appropriate to correct adverse trends
Communicate and report project progress status to your team, client, customer and partners against defined and agreed landmarks
Support the process of quantifying risks associated with the portfolio of projects. Working within your team you will devise mitigating actions and periodically review recovery progress
Participate in negotiations with customers and partners on commercial and contractual terms
Align with the requirements of corporate investment regulations, other corporate governance and the Guide to Railway Investment Projects.
