We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our Research & Technical Development team in Wimborne.

As the Technical Service & Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest degree of product performance and compliance communication across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Working collaboratively, you will provide insight to drive the product development and innovation programs. You will carry out product benchmarking to provide data on Farrow & Ball’s performance against a range of competitors.

You will ensure global legal technical compliance of paint and wallpaper, including chemical and labelling regulation, along with a knowledge of upcoming risks and mitigation strategies.

The Technical Service and Compliance Manager will support Sales and Customer Service product enquiries, producing technical reports to aid sales opportunities or to mitigate customer problems.

What we expect from you

Key Responsibilities :

  • To ensure the performance of Farrow & Ball’s paints and Wallpapers is fully understood and communicated
  • To work with Research and Technical Development and Marketing identifying opportunities and developing new products
  • To test in a targeted way our product performance globally to inform Marketing campaigns and Product Development
  • To ensure global chemical legal and standards compliance
  • To ensure in house and third-party testing is robust and repeatable
  • To ensure that product quality is maintained to agreed standards
  • To test product performance and provide honest information on preparation, application and expected longevity
  • To technically resolve customer enquiries providing remedial advice
  • To work with Sales to ensure clients receive the best technical advice and increase sales
  • Ensure the Health and Safety is of a high standard within the department, including completion and maintenance of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • To maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
  • To undertake other duties as and when directed by the Head of Department.
  • Key Attributes :

  • Experience of Coatings Formulation process, the raw materials used and their impact on product performance
  • An understanding of the paint manufacturing process
  • Experience of Coatings performance testing techniques
  • Experience of presenting Technical Information to Consumers both verbal and written
  • Chemical Legislation with a focus on its impact on Coatings
  • Experience of managing a team with multiple priorities is desirable
  • Minimum A level Science (Chemistry, Physics or Paint Technology preferable) or equivalent
  • Preferable Degree in Science (Chemistry or Paint Technology) or equivalent
  • 5 years in a Coatings Technical role
