Job Title : Site Engineer (Mechanical Bias)

Job Location : Cheltenham - Static Role Mechanical Bias

An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Bias Engineer with an M&E background to join a prestigious site based in Cheltenham.

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday on this Cheltenham, (Gloucestershire) site. The main aim is to provide all-round engineering support, and maintaining the site infrastructure whilst having a detailed understanding of all new or current building services systems and contingency procedures on the site, and complying with the Health & Safety / building codes of practice.

The role will be Monday-Friday, however there will be weekend working occasionally required due to the nature of the site.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Maintain a close liaison and working relationship with the Engineering Supervisor and Contract Delivery Manager
  • Attend all allocated training courses.
  • Completion of SFG20 PPMs and reactive tasks and update the system in order to meet contractual obligations.
  • Ensure that daily checks are completed and repair or report any defects using the helpdesk or reactive works ticketing system
  • Maintain accurate records for both ppm and reactive works
  • Ensure engineering standards are maintained in order to maximise efficient operation and reliability of plant and associated systems
  • Responsible for M&E stock control
  • Ensure any accidents and near misses are reported to line managers
  • Maintain and supervise, issues arising, ongoing works, special task requests, standard of housekeeping
  • Comply with both statutory and company health, safety and environmental regulations and policies.
  • Timely implementation and recording of all statutory inspections including accurate recording of electrical, fire and water hygiene records
  • Where necessary be available to attend out of hours calls when required and provide site cover OOH on planned event days.
  • Control of 3rd party contractors including monitoring of work performance and standards, including internal auditing where applicable in conjunction with the Contract Delivery Manager
  • Ensure that Specialist Service Provider worksheets are signed off that quality of work is inspected and recommendations are escalated to the Contract Delivery Manager
  • Ensure that Plant areas, workshops, stores, changing / rest areas etc. are kept to the highest level of housekeeping
  • Will be expected to operate and trouble shoot all building systems but not be limited to the following :
  • BMS and electrical monitoring, Air handling / conditioning, Domestic water services, Fire prevention and detection systems, AC, DC single phase and three phase motors and associated controls Low voltage switch panels and associated breakers.
  • Water pumps, control valves and Heating plant.

    Qualifications and Experience :

  • Approved apprenticeship or appropriate experience within Building Services
  • Level 2 / 3 - City & Guilds - Building Services Engineering HVAC / Mechanical or equivalent and competent in plumbing, joinery, tiling and painting
  • 17 / 18th Edition IEE (Preferred)
  • A demonstrable knowledge of building services engineering
  • Practical experience within the building services engineering industry
  • Health & Safety awareness is essential
  • At least 3 years of engineering experience is a must
  • Proactive approach to undertake all tasks required
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working in busy commercial contracts, managing and achieving KPIs and SLAs.
  • Logical thinker in fault finding situations
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
