Terra Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Centre for American Art, The Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London.
A 6-month postgraduate fellowship hosted by the Centre for American Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London is advertised for the 2021-22 academic year.
This award is designed to facilitate original, rigorous and exciting research that investigates art from the United States or its role in an international context from the colonial period up to 1980.
It offers a postdoctoral scholar the opportunity to pursue his or her own work while in residence for six months and to actively contribute to the academic programming of the Centre for American Art.
The Terra Foundation fellow will be able to consult local libraries and archives, including the Courtauld library, and benefit from access to the events of the Sackler Research Forum.
The Fellowship is open to candidates who have successfully completed a PhD dissertation on American art at an academic institution anywhere in the world.
The fellowship cannot be used to support research in the fields of archaeology, the current practice of architecture, or the performing arts.
The Fellowship must be taken in the 2021 / 2022 academic year between September 2021 and September 2022. The Fellowship cannot be deferred to later academic years nor can it run concurrently with a Fellowship awarded by another institution.
The American Centre at the Courtauld will undertake to administer all aspects of the Fellowship, including the disbursal of funds.
The Terra Foundation Fellow at the Centre for American Art at the Courtauld will be expected to present their research before a scholarly audience at some point during or shortly after the fellowship.
