Become recognised as the lead Business Development professional for the manufacturing sector.
Provide strategic and tactical advice to the SLP to design and deliver the sector strategy. Evaluate progress against plan and monitor the implementation of key initiatives.
Regularly review and update the priority clients for the sector, including running a formal annual review process for all strategic, and a selection of core, clients.
Work with practice groups to identify opportunities and to tailor their products to the specific needs of clients in the manufacturing sector.
Annual financial target setting for individual accounts and across the sector. Management of sector BD budget.
Implement internal education programme for sector client teams, to share best practice, sector knowledge and knowledge of the firm's products
Engage in and encourage active support of the firm’s Client Listening programme.
Build personal understanding of current and emerging issues impacting the sector, including building and leveraging relationships with relevant industry associations and bodies.
Develop profile raising initiatives including a content strategy and thought leadership.
Client Relationship Management
Work with the relevant CRPs to set the strategy for your nominated clients.
Develop and implement robust account plans for nominated clients and, together with the CRP, develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers.
Develop an in-depth understanding of the nominated clients and their businesses.
Selectively introduce new practice groups and the network contacts to the client.
Chair or co-chair regular meetings with the client teams to ensure account plans are being executed.
Ensure the firm meets the pricing needs of clients.
Skills, experience and qualifications
Undergraduate degree qualification preferred.
Seven years plus experience in business development with a particular focus on strategic selling, pursuits management and client relationship management.
Demonstrates commercial awareness.
Experience of working in a sector focussed role (in particular manufacturing) is preferable but not essential.
Strong project management skills.
Experience in influencing at a senior level within a professional services or large corporate environment.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build trusting relationships with the partnership and business services management alike.
