Description of the Business Line or Department
The Global Data Infrastructure (GDI) team are responsible for the support, management and development of the Societe Generale Groups’ data infrastructure, including database (Oracle, Microsoft, Sybase, etc ) and Big Data (Hadoop, Gemfire, etc ) technologies.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
Provision of technical support for the global Oracle development and testing environments.
Engage technically with ITEC Development teams and application owners, in order to ensure adherence to database standards within deployment and rollback scripts.
Provide recommendations for Oracle code improvements within the database objects, in order to maximise application performance.
Ensure non-Production Oracle database environments are refreshed in line with requirements, with a special focus on the treatment and security of sensitive data.
Summary of responsibilities
Performance tune queries and offer expertise on database design.
Offer consulting on optimal architecture and data models.
Provide Oracle technical database support on development, testing and staging servers.
Monitor and troubleshoot Oracle development, testing and staging databases for deadlocks, performance issues and resource issues.
Responsible for refreshing schemas and datasets for development, testing and staging environments.
Prepare test datasets including redacting live data or using data generation tools.
Assist in the preparation / production of deployment scripts and deployment plans.
Assist in the preparation of rollback scripts and rollback plans.
Run schema and data comparisons.
Perform business requirement analysis, project management, support and other duties consistent with this level of responsibility.
Extensive knowledge of all aspects of Oracle technical environments (11g 12c).
Previous experience with configuring and administering databases on a virtual platform.
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Oracle technologies.
Strong problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong database development skills, including design, development, testing, deployment and support.
Experienced technical Database Developer.
Extensive workload management experience.
Experience of High Availability solutions including Clustering / Virtualisation / etc
Extensive experience designing, optimizing and maintaining Oracle databases in support of both OLTP and OLAP architectures.
Proven capability to identify, define and communicate Oracle database performance recommendations, in a structured, detail-oriented approach.
Experience of managing code changes within a structured change management environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or Computer Sciences (or equivalent).
