About the role

We are seeking a Content Developer to join our innovative and passionate Content Generation product team at an exciting time.

The successful candidate will be at the forefront of the expansion of our automated content provision for digital racing products across the Group.

Working under the wing of the subject matter experts (SMEs) in the team, he / she will use their own domain knowledge - both of horse racing content and the betting industry - and analytical mindset to develop content into features and products that inform and inspire our customers.

He / she will play a role in ensuring these initiatives can be scaled cost effectively to grow our digital business in B2B and B2C products and ventures.

Learning how data science and / or machine learning can help achieve this outcome, he / she will be capable of :

  • working to a brief, for example to conduct research and then propose data points that might be needed for our products and content.
  • using initiative to propose and test viable solutions to business requirements, define techniques and implement them to produce quality outputs within an agreed timeframe
  • He / she will work particularly closely with the other Content Developers (SMEs) in the team, who will provide support and guidance as they learn the core skills to develop in their role.

    They will also work alongside the data scientist(s) and engineers in the team to produce the required outputs, with the emphasis on quality, innovation and scalability.

    Role accountabilities

    Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the company, the following provides an overview of the key responsibilities :

  • Conduct background research on new content initiatives to inform features and priorities
  • Design logic and analyse / manipulate data
  • Break down problems to propose viable solutions to meet requirements set by the business in relation to content and data development
  • Sense check outputs for meeting our quality hallmarks, identify and work to implement improvements
  • Work within agreed agile methodology, using appropriate software as defined by the Product Manager, to manage workloads effectively
  • Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of either analysing racing data, or using racing data to create bet prompting content such as statistics or ratings
  • A deep knowledge of horse racing and a keen interest in the betting industry
  • A keen interest in and aptitude to learn about the discipline of data science and the opportunities it creates in data-led businesses
  • A passion for stats, an analytical mindset and an ability to manipulate data
  • A team player able to work effectively with a multi-disciplined team of product, content, data science and technology personnel
  • An innovative nature and ability to problem solve
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated with a passion to succeed as an individual and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail with a keen eye for accuracy
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work to and meet deadlines
  • Ability to gain respect & trust of people you work with by consistently demonstrating commitment in your work
