Main Duties to : * Receiving analytical requests, and carrying out (or guiding their team in carrying out) revenue generating laboratory-
based analytical project work, applying diverse analytical techniques to a wide range of sample types.* Associated data processing, data interpretation and report writing;
peer review of data / reports generated by team members.* Supervising team members carrying out method development and validation, including drafting of related documents (methods, protocols, reports).
Line managing an internal team; selecting appropriate team members for the completion of analytical tasks; ensuring the quality of team outputs.
Working with their Section Manager to maintain a diverse team of staff with complementary skills and competencies, ensuring high levels of performance, development and motivation;
providing technical guidance and training to team members; oversee training of new members of staff.* Ensure all equipment is maintained and upkeep is managed by the appropriate staff.
Principle techniques dependent on experience and training.* Client liaison, inter-group liaison, internal projects and initiatives.
Contributing to and adhering to company standard operating procedures.* Training of co-workers in own specialist techniques.
Qualifications / Role Requirements : * BSc or PhD in an analytical, chemical or related scientific field with demonstrated, relevant experience.
Broad practical experience in developing and validating analytical methods; method development research skills.* Experienced in the use of complex analytical instrumentation.
Experience and fundamental knowledge of the following technical areas - GC, LC, IS and MS.* Experience of developing GC and IC methods.
Experience of working in GMP and GLP regulated environments (inc. quality, health and safety).* Familiarity with good scientific practice.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work in teams and multitask.* Able to identify and highlight own training needs, and proactively upskill.
Equipment maintenance and trouble-shooting skills.* Strong written and oral communications skills; IT Literate.* Proactive approach to your work.
