A specialist design and manufacturing organisation in the Oxford area are expanding throughout 2109. As part of their growth, they require the skills of a Design Manager to work in the R&D Department where you'll be working on technically challenging projects, developing innovative products from conception through to production.
Working both as an in-house design function and for Pharmaceutical OEM customers you'll be developing products that make real world impacts and help to improve people's lives worldwide.
Provide leadership, set standards and provide coaching for a team of Design Engineers.
Manage multiple projects within the design department from concept to production ensuring projects are delivered on time and budget.
Demonstrate excellence in Design Engineering skills.
Responsible for the compilation and accuracy of Design History files.
Plan and co-ordinate the activities of the design group to ensure compliance to procedures and regulations as required.
Be responsible for managing effective new product designs. To review the output of Design Engineers ensuring work is completed with the required level of rigour to the timescales required by the project.
Be responsible for progressing all design and development activities to achieve agreed timing, highlighting any concerns or deviations from plan to the functional lead and relevant project manager in a timely manner to support the discussion and development of recovery strategies.
Experience within Medical Device or similar regulated industry. E.g. ISO 13485, FDA 820.30.
Highly computer literate e.g Excel / Word and PowerPoint.
Experience in using SolidWorks (or similar) CAD system.
Ability to review / produce technical reports.
Experience of quality management systems.
Highly experienced in some or all of the following areas :
Mechanical design, Plastics, Injection moulding, DFMEA, UFMEA, Prototyping techniques, tooling, concept generation, taking products from concept to production, project planning and management, FEA, Human Factors engineering.
