The Role People Officer

We currently have an exciting vacancy for a People Officer to join our People Team on a temporary basis to cover a period of maternity leave.

This is a great opportunity for someone that is passionate about delivering outstanding support to the whole organisation and takes pride in their work, providing expert advice and guidance within a fast-paced environment.

We’re looking for someone who can :

  • Provide first line advice and guidance on HR matters in line with the zoo’s policies, procedures and best practice
  • Support the recruitment process by assisting and advising managers in the preparation of adverts, scheduling and supporting with interviews to ensure that every candidate journey is positive and reflects the zoos values
  • Provide support and advice with regards to the management of sickness absence referring to Occupational Health where appropriate
  • Ensure that accurate information is provided to payroll in a timely manner and in line with payroll deadlines
  • Undertake and support projects as required

    The Package

  • 12 month fixed term contract for maternity cover
  • 32 hours per week worked flexibly between our core hours of 8 : 30am - 5 : 00pm, Monday to Friday with 30-minute unpaid lunch break
  • Possibility of home working, one day per week
  • 33 days annual leave per year pro-rata (based on 40 hours)
  • Salary of £24,458.97 per annum (FTE £30,573.71)

  • The successful candidate will have :

  • A Level 5 CIPD qualification or equivalent experience
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
  • Experience of providing HR advice and support, working autonomously where required
  • Knowledge of HR best practice
  • The ability to influence and coach at all levels
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • The ability to deal effectively with issues of a sensitive nature, demonstrating tact and diplomacy
