Job Description

The R&D Program Manager is responsible for the following :

  • Manages the development and / or implementation of the portfolio of Motorola Solutions body worn products or services, and other product integration projects
  • Coordinates departmental or cross-functional teams, focused on delivering new or upgraded existing products or services
  • Manages projects from inception to completion (or transition), including tracking and evaluation of project performance
  • Ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and within accepted quality metrics
  • Leads project review and status meetings, and communicates project statusUtilizes project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness
  • Motivates project team to ensure optimal performance
  • Leads the project management of all phases of allocated projects from requirements specification to delivery on-time, within budget, to agreed quality standards and other stipulated criteria such as Motorola Solutions product lifecycle processes
  • Coordination of R&D, QA, compliance, supply chain, and Support teams across multiple regions to deliver the resulting products to target markets;
  • Uses appropriate project management tools, communication plans and risk management / threat modelling techniques to create rigour in project planning and execution for specified projects at all development stages, enabling project delivery in line with time, financial and quality requirements;
  • Applies all aspects of the Secure Product Development Lifecycle process, including supporting and enforcing project documentation;
  • Works with members of the technical leadership team to define and deliver standard information needs and support ad-hoc information requests.
  • Provides project and portfolio-level management reporting;
  • Ensures a consistent set of planning assumptions (programs, activities, timing) is leveraged across the organisation - the custodian of aggregate planning assumptions that are aligned with key product / program plans;
  • Basic Requirements

    Key qualifications, skills and attributes of the R&D Program Manager :

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline
  • 5 years’ experience in project management and resource management planning within the technology industry, ideally within an electronics / software R&D environment
  • Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2 / PMI would be an advantage
  • Working knowledge of standard project management tools
  • Experience of prioritising and managing time between multiple projects
  • Strong leadership, and excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated and well organised, both individually and as part of a team
