Role Purpose :

During the COVID-19 restrictions, our interviews will be by video call.

Additionally, the successful applicant will be supported to work from home for the initial period where restrictions on non-essential travel are in place and will then be based at our Skylight on City Road, Newcastle, NE1 2AF.

Crisis is the national charity for homeless people. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.

Our housing, education, employment and wellbeing and mental health services help people leave homelessness, as well as one-to-one support, advice and courses we offer for homeless people in 12 areas across England, Scotland and Wales.

About the role

Our administration team in Newcastle provide high quality administrative, secretarial and back office support to our frontline services which support people who are homeless or at risk from homelessness.

As our Administrator, you will develop relationships internally to provide a high quality of administrative support for all teams within Crisis Skylight Newcastle.

You will ensure records are up to date, documents and stock are replenished within centre, record session attendance, administer and invigilate exams and also deal with a range of enquiries from internal and external customers.

In addition, the team staff our reception area, welcoming and greeting existing and new clients, responding to questions and showing sensitivity and compassion to people who are in emergency housing situations, or rough sleeping.

This could include triaging current and new members, accessing eligibility and housing needs, in order to direct to the most appropriate area of our service or signposting to an external organisation.

Knowledge / Skills and Experience : About you

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working within administration in a busy environment, providing a high standard of customer service and have the ability to deal effectively with conflicting priorities.

You will have strong administrative skills including using all Microsoft packages, be solution focused, resilient, have a high level of attention to detail and excellent organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to successfully manage a busy and diverse workload.

The post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills, an understanding of the issues faced by homeless people and socially excluded groups, as well as the ability to deal with challenging situations and individuals with a range of needs.
