Responsible for the efficient scheduling of reactive, cyclic and planned maintenance works to ensure compliance with performance requirements by leading the scheduling team.

Working alongside the supervisors and client officers to deliver the most efficient and effective use of both in-house and supply chain resources


Overall responsibility for allocating, permitting and scheduling emergency, reactive and planned maintenance works using both Insight and the WorkTrax system to ensure a smooth, timely programme of works.

Provide on-going guidance and training for less experienced members of the team

Liaise with the client Streetworks team to ensure network availability for works to be undertaken and ensure permitting is completed accordingly

Liaise with Supervisors to ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete works within required timescales

Ensure works are scheduled to achieve contract performance requirements (KPI’s)

To lead on WorkTrax administration and developments to support delivery and maintain the system as required

Monitor the system to ensure it is being utilised correctly by all users

To coordinate and support significant weather / incident responses on the network supporting the Operations Manager to achieve an effective service response

Provide regular management information to demonstrate current performance against emergency, reactive and planned maintenance and to proactively highlight any issues

Identify, value and record contract efficiencies generated through effective scheduling and allocation of resources

Identify mitigation for works not completed within required timescales and ensure that appropriate processes are followed to ensure all work is delivered.

Ensure works orders are vetted for quality and accuracy as they arrive and challenge the client for missing information, cancelling jobs if required in line with the agreed process.

Regularly review progress of programmes with Supervisors, team managers and client officers

To carry out other duties consistent with the above that may be directed or implied from time to time as required commensurate to the post.

Promote a safe working environment

Ensure data collected is accurate and error free

Ensure all related service performance indicators and contractual requirements are met

To follow the RJMS systems processes

Liaise closely with the Streetworks team to prevent FPNs

Raising permit applications as per works descriptions

Skills and Experience

Demonstrates leadership qualities and responsibilities

Understanding of highway maintenance methods and techniques, best practice and technologies

An understanding of NRSWA / TMA requirements

A flexible approach that is able to adapt to challenging timescales and workloads

Confident in working with people at all levels

Possess competent IT skills including the ability to adapt to various software and hardware specifically regarding Asset Management and scheduling systems / tools

Proficient in the use of the WorkTrax (JobWatch) scheduling system or similar

Ability to manage time and workloads to a strict schedule and complete tasks in a timely manner

Ability to communicate effectively within all mediums

Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other team members

Ability to show continual improvement in the role and to the wider organisation
