Salary : Band D £31,931-£34,709 (Dependent on Experience)

Contract Type : Open Ended

Location : STFC - Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot

Technology Department (TD) is part of the National Laboratories organisation within Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

It exists to provide technology, engineering and support to STFC’s current and future facilities and programmes. A vacancy exists within the Technology Management Business Support Group, a small team that provides enabling administrative support functions to the technical Projects and Programmes within the Department.

The TD Business Support and Continuity Manager will work closely with TD Senior Staff and across functions such as Project Management, Business Processes to develop a TD Risk and Assurance framework that will support these individuals / functions in establishing, embedding and developing TD risk management process that is compatible with UKRI strategy and underlying processes.

The key responsibilities will be :

  • Coordinating / advising / leading on Risk Management within TD
  • Coordinating TD contribution to the Risk Management agenda
  • Recommend / review TD Risk Management processes and embed
  • Constantly review and escalate any new or changing risks that need to be considered for the corporate risk register
  • Manage the TD Business Continuity process, including Business Impact Assessments and testing robustness regularly via scenario walk throughs
  • Reporting to TEB quarterly
  • Championing Business Continuity through :
  • Supprting Director TD to ensure Corporate expectations are met consistently
  • Maintaining the Department risk register using EasyRisk and Verto or their replacements
  • In prviding advice and support on Risk Management and EasyRisk / Verto for the Department and Divisions
  • Prducing agreed and consistent reports from EasyRisk for internal and external reporting purposes
  • Cordinating any Risk Management is consistent through all reporting levels (Project / PRC / EasyRisk / Business Continuity / Verto) and escalates logically
  • Delivering risk training as required
  • There will be a requirement to undertake general support functions as directed given the bandwidth of the teams support activity.

    These tasks may include, but not be limited to, acting as point of contact between Bids, Project Managers, and Project Management activity.

    Supporting general business processes including the TD Bid Register. Financial reporting. STFC currently uses ORACLE for its financial reporting delivery.
