As an Experienced Chemical Plant Operator, working within a Chemical Manufacturing Team specialising in Distillation and Blending, you will play a major role in delivering chemicals to Pharma, Academia and other Industrial sectors.
Reporting to the Plant Team Leaders, you will :
What will you do?
Ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with legislation and company procedures.
Carry out chemical manufacture, using automated and manual chemical reactors in a fast-paced chemical processing environment.
Participate fully in daily briefings and other meetings.
Assemble, competently use and dissemble plant equipment.
Monitor reaction progress using analytical techniques and take corrective actions to produce the batch within specification.
Take personal ownership of quality of work; complete documentation accurately.
Carry out routine safety inspections and quality checks including calibrations, daily and weekly checks of work area; start-up and shutdowns procedures.
Maintain the cleanliness of the Plant and Equipment.
Use MRP and web-based systems for retrieving and recording information.
Plan own workload and take personal responsibility for key metrics.
Train / mentor more junior operators.
Assist with the daily planning and organisation of work, raw material and product handling.
As part of a team, participate in process reviews and improvements (operating procedures, COSHH assessments, risk assessments, HAZOPs etc.).
Be prepared to move between manufacturing areas, depending on resource requirements.
Embrace and participate in improvement projects (Practical Process Improvement).

How will you get here?
Education / Competence
Ideally Chemical Manufacturing operational experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 GCSE grades A C (or equivalent) including Maths, English and a Science.
A’Level in Science subject or equivalent, advantageous.
Computer literate (word, excel, and web-based systems).
Experience / Skills and Abilities
Desire to work in a technical but hands-on role.
Demonstrates self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic approach.
Displays ambition and attributes to progress within the business.
Basic knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, applicable to Manufacturing.
Must be able to work on own initiative but also able to be part of the team.
Able to communicate clearly on both written and verbal basis.
Have excellent attention to detail.
Good organisational and time keeping skills
Willing to work variable shifts if required. Currently only day shift required, but shift pattern is subject to change as the business grows.
Role requires FLT usage (full training provided)
