A large Secondary school in Newport is looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to support Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils.

This role will be on a part time basis (3 / 4 days per week) and will begin in September 2021.

The school you will be joining is in Newport, but if commuting from other areas the school is easily accessible by car via the M4.

Role of a Cover Supervisor

£65 - £80 daily pay (dependant on experience)

The main objective is keeping the students motivated to learn in the absence of the class teacher.

Lessons will be pre planned, you will not be expected to teach, your role is to supervise the room and manage any challenges in behaviour.

  • Be responsible for covering classes
  • Be able to use your own initiative
  • All work is pre set, you will be responsible for ensuring the class stays on track
  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Responding to any questions from students
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies in accordance with the school's policies and procedures
  • Collecting any completed work and resources after the lesson and returning them to the appropriate teacher or subject leader
  • This is a new and exciting role and would suit graduates thinking of teaching or an experienced teaching assistant who is looking to gain more experience and responsibility by leading sessions and covering classes.

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
