Job Overview

As a Development Engineer you will be responsible for all aspects of new product development including obtaining voice of customer, defining new concepts, new product development and industrialization of the new product.

You will be expected to bring relevant, practical and theoretical expertise in new product development, and work with multifunctional, global teams to bring projects to fruition.

Job Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for product development and qualification from market definition through production to release
  • Define, coordinate, and drive technical activities to lead project teams from an engineering perspective
  • Manage multiple priorities to maintain project progress
  • Coordinate technical activities and communications
  • Prepare documentation including, for example, product specifications, test plans and production drawings
  • Design products to optimise for cost, quality and manufacturability
  • Collaborate closely with global manufacturing teams
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap of the Performance Materials team
  • Create customer and supplier relationships
  • Submit all IP information to legal according to policy and prior to public disclosure.
  • Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will hold experience within a product development or similar role and, preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline;
  • Material Science, Polymer Engineering or similar, or Master’s degree.

    Key Requirements

  • Demonstrate technical experience in material science, polymer processing including compounding and extrusion, and heat shrink products.
  • Demonstrate understanding of product development by integrating deep knowledge of theory and practical experience
  • Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, with the ability to prioritize, set and achieve goals and drive improvements in business processes for product development
  • Adapt and make departures from traditional methods or approaches to develop innovative products
  • Take a proactive approach to design for cost, quality and manufacturability
  • Knowledge of Voice of Customer, Design to Value, Design for Six Sigma, LEAN Manufacturing and LEAN business processes is preferred
