The Role

We are currently looking for HGV drivers to carry out the delivery and collection of our customer’s wide variety of products in an efficient, professional and competent manner.

Always giving specific care towards customer premises, Ryder vehicles and other road uses.

The role will be multidrop, delivering hardware and trade goods using pump truck deliveries.

Additional Information

This job involves 3 nights out in the cab each week.

Good Friday is a normal working day and given back to you as a day in lieu.

As a HGV Driver you will be responsible for the safety of your vehicle at all times, you will be the Captain of your Ship’.

This will mean you will be responsible for carrying out daily checks on your vehicles, reporting any defects or issues with load security.

Compliance will also be a big part of your role, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of paperwork, use of tachographs and adherence to legislation at all times.

This job follows a set pattern : -

  • Load Monday 6am in Manchester, deliver and load at Edinburgh depot, then deliver and load at Glasgow, night out on M74 approx. junction 10
  • Tue drive into N.E. England (Northumberland / Newcastle / Sunderland) with 6 to 10 drops and return to Manchester. Home Tuesday night.
  • Load Wednesday 6am in Manchester, deliver 3 to 5 drops in Liverpool area, reload in Knowsley and drive north again, night out on M74 approx. junction 10
  • Thursday morning, deliver and load at Edinburgh depot, then deliver and load at Glasgow, night out in N.E England area (various locations used)
  • Friday, deliver N.E. with 6 to 10 drops and return to Manchester. Home Friday.

    In order to be successful in Ryder, we would expect you to both share our values as a business and be able to demonstrate success in a similar role and be accustomed to working to set delivery timescales, providing an accurate and prompt service.

    Health and Safety is paramount in everything that we do and to be successful you will need to share our passion for safety, have a good working knowledge of procedures, and an awareness of transport legislation, driver hour’s requirements and tachograph regulations.
