Finance Business Partner, EG

The Role

We are currently recruiting for the position of Finance Business Partner within Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions Group’s Finance team, supporting our EG (UK Commercial Real Estate) business.

The role will report to the VP Finance (UK) and will be based in our London office (Bishopsgate). There will be some travel to our UK head office in Sutton, South London.

This is a highly commercial and operational finance role, working closely with finance and business managers at a range of levels and up to the Executive level.

You will provide strong decision support to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), ensuring that all decisions are taken with proper understanding of their financial consequences.

This role will be critical in developing short-term forecasts and 3-year strategic plans for the business. Ability to communicate effectively and influence will be critical to success in the role, as will detail focus and a solid grounding in accounting principles.

The role acts as a key liaison between the business and central Finance and Accounting teams.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities :

  • Provide input to VP Finance, Group Managing Director and commercial business teams, playing a key role on the EG SLT to ensure that decisions are taken with an understanding of their financial consequences
  • Produce and interpret regular financial reports, and drive appropriate operational response
  • Identify and embed the use of common key performance metrics, particularly around revenue, and leverage analytics to provide insight that drives action.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring a rigorous and accurate process with appropriate challenge, understanding and communication of risks and issues
  • Partner closely with the wider Finance team, including centralised teams Accounting Services, Reporting & Analysis, and the Global Transaction teams.
  • Ensure ongoing support and tracking of projects including providing effective challenge on deliverables & milestones
  • Support an effective control environment and help to safeguard the company’s assets
  • Analysis of performance of sales commission schemes, feeding into design of future schemes
  • Provide response to ad-hoc queries and requests for analysis from finance and the business
  • Key skills required

  • While the role does not directly involve posting journals, core accounting and technical knowledge is essential for success
  • Ability to influence at a senior level and to extract and challenge the drivers of growth from business leaders in order to drive a robust and transparent forecast process will also be critical.
