Conducts service, repair and / or installation of LCMS instruments or IT solutions at customer site, including electrical, mechanical and chemistry testing, in accordance with maintenance contracts.

Diagnoses system failures and determines most cost-effective solution. Escalates complex issues to greater level of technical support or quality reporting system.

May offer upgrades and products to enhance customer workflow. Responds to customer support calls within an assigned territory.

Essential Duties, Critical Success Factors, Responsibilities, Authorities and Required Interactions :

Service Technician is responsible for developing the knowledge and skills to support the maintenance, installation and triage repair of SCIEX products at both internal and external customer sites.

This entry-level position works under close supervision and mentoring by a manager, regional specialist and senior engineers within the territory.

Tasks are performed independently as competencies are developed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Completes and successfully pass assigned training tasks
  • Develops knowledge of SCIEX products
  • Learns and develops the customer support and technical skills necessary to perform high quality maintenance and triage repair on instruments
  • Performs preventive maintenance and triage repair on select products
  • Accompanies experienced Field Service engineers on installation and repair calls
  • May perform some installation / repair independently as ability improves
  • Learns and completes basic administration duties (closing out calls, SMAX, etc )
  • Maintains own tool and parts inventory to ensure adequate supply
  • Education and / or Work Experience Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. / B.A.) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering or (HNC / HND)
  • Entry level - No experience required- some lab experience preferred
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Ability to learn troubleshooting and problem-solving procedures
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 20 KG
  • Requires ability to walk, climb, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at waist.
  • Exposed to moving parts and electricity that require safety protocols
  • Exposure to varied travel conditions either driving or flying
  • Travel required / Valid Driver's License.
  • Travel by vehicle or airplane within assigned geography, up to 50% overnight travel may be required.
  • Meeting Vendor Credentialing requirements are an essential element of this position.
