Job Description

Job objectives and responsibilities

  • To maintain and promote the Mitie brand and reputation by providing an industry leading security provision
  • Maximise the efficiency and sustainability of the contract through the convergence of people, systems and technology to deliver intelligence led services based upon risk and data analysis
  • Effectively manage a designated portfolio of stores, ensuring that all contracted and temporary hours are fulfilled by trained officers to the complete satisfaction of those stores / clients
  • To support the partnership with the Arcus Management team to deliver the security provision on the Sainsburys contract
  • Contribute to the success of the Sainsbury’s contract by ensuring that all officers receive effective training and continuous on-going colleague coaching
  • Main duties

    To deliver results for their identified area that meets or exceeds the budget and service delivery requirements through full responsibility and accountability for :

  • To ensure all Officers in the Store portfolio fully understand and comply with, all aspects of Mitie Policy relevant to legal and regulatory requirements
  • To maintain and review accurate Assignment Instructions and complete regular reviews to ensure officers understanding and compliance
  • To maintain and review accurate Risk assessments and complete regular reviews to ensure officers understand and compliance
  • To complete the annual Risk Assessment and Assignment Instruction review and sign off for all sites with in allocated area
  • Ensuring behaviours and situations that endanger the health and safety and wellbeing of colleagues, customers and fellow officers are identified and rectified in a timely manner in line with company policies
  • Supporting Sainsbury and Mitie WSHS / QHSE initiatives and compliance with policy and legislation
  • The reporting and investigation of incidents and the identification of their causes. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and retain for audit purposes
  • Ensuring all Mitie obligations relating to Officer Welfare, Health and Safety and Duty of Care are observed at all times
  • Ensuring all customer complaints are recorded and fully investigated in accordance with Mitie processes and all reports are retained and forwarded to the relevant parties and within the specified KPI turnaround timescale
  • Ensure all contractual requirements and KPI’s are met and are in keeping with the customer’s expectation
  • Ensuring all vacancies are advertised with the appropriate agencies and maintain establishment to deliver the coverage KPI specified by the customer
  • Actively manage and support Officer Development Lead (ODL) by analysing data supplied by SMART technology to assist in delivering the operational resource to risk model in line with the Sainsbury’s Safer Communities (SSC) project
  • Managing recruitment and succession planning to ensure that the Store portfolio has the capability to deliver consistent high levels of service
  • Undertake the roles and responsibilities of the duty manager by participating in the rotation of the Sainsbury’s weekend working schedule
  • To build, lead, retain and support in the development of a team of security officers that believe and demonstrate through their work that Mitie is different to other Security service providers through :
  • Ensuring adequate and appropriate training, advice and support is provided to make the Officer team successful. This includes ensuring knowledge and use of key systems, tools and awareness of policies;
  • undertaking regular appraisals; providing open feedback on progress and career development and use of sanctions for underperformance

  • Ensuring understanding and demonstrate implementation of the Mitie values and bring to life The exceptional, Every day
  • Ensures the delivery of Mitie company induction, initial assessment and comprehensive retail / S.T.A.R.S. training of all newly appointed security officers takes place on their allocated area
  • Take active steps to maintain communication and recognise achievement and develop the Mitie Community
  • Manage a determined number of Officer Development Lead (ODL) as defined by the contract structure
  • That all direct reports take part in a structured 121 process as defined by the contract

  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Literate, numerate and IT skills to medium level user
  • Expected to hold level 3 apprenticeship in management development and working towards level 5
