In the Engineering team at Equinix, we keep the lights on! We are responsible for maintaining the electrical and mechanical infrastructure across the various sites.

This is including and not limited to stand by power generators, AC units, chilled water systems.

As a Shift Leader in one of your Data Centres, you will have responsibilities of on-site management of the London Data Cntre engineering team on delivery of all engineering services and activities.

To support a successful team who are committed to achieving the company objectives. To ensure effective management of each IBX facility within the local campus.

Manag ement

  • To lead the local engineering team to expertly maintain critical engineering equipment and data centre fabric. To highlight and report all opportunities to improve efficiency in site operations and asset condition.
  • To actively support the development of the local engineering team in line with recognised professional institutes and promote the Magic of Equinix - our values.

    Site Capacity Management

  • Overall site capacity supervision
  • Project / Infrastructure Management

  • To assist the Engineering Manager with the daily supervision of contractors engaged in project works.
  • To attend project meetings, giving technical mentorship and sharing information with the wider team.
  • To ensure customer notifications are raised and issued in good time.
  • Vendor Management

  • Oversees contractor work and operations to ensure completion to Equinix's required standards.
  • To audit contractors work and RAMS to ensure their compliance
  • Testing

  • Assists with start up tests, documenting and reporting all problems
  • Incident Management

  • Communicates and coordinates activities and on-site staff during an incident
  • Provide ongoing technical support and training to the engineering team.
  • Requirements

  • ONC / BTEC or equivalent qualification in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous data centre experience
  • Previous experience managing a strong team of engineers
  • Good customer skills
  • 18th Edition test and inspection training
  • Ambitious and flexible
  • HV Switching experience
  • Clean UK Driving Licence
