Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Gas & Water business unit to work in Manchester and Wolverhampton.
Role Purpose :
The role of Assistant Project Manager is to support the Programme and Project Management Team to deliver a best practice and compliant gated lifecycle business.
Responsibilities include assisting the Project Manager in the day to day management of the GDSP to end end project management processes, standards and governance, in order to drive business compliance.
This will include but not be limited to ensuring Project Management Plans and Stage Gate documentation is complete and compliant, change notification registers are upto date and progressed, weekly programme updates are given the P6 planners, Project on a Page ( Poaps) actions aree closed prior to the next Poap and risk registers are maintained within the IRIS environment.
The role is to support the Project Manager in the production of effective MI and KPI data.
What you'll be doing
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will have the following accountabilities :
Governance & Control
Support the GDSP contract in meeting the Balfour Beatty business objective in that all GDSP work streams are compliant with the End to End Gated Framework process
Planning and Control
Working for the Project Manager, implement the GDSP Year 7 and 8 programme optimisation to ensure design through to construction understand the optimisation objective and commercial expectation.
Ensure Gated Framework documentation is available in a timely manner for gate review compliance.
Support the Project Manager in producing the weekly and monthly cycle of GDSP P6 reports
Support the Project manager in managing Programme-level risk and opportunity IRIS process to ensure that all programme level risks and opportunities are tracked and reported on
Support the Project Manager with the : Reporting of KPI and MI for Cadent and G&W GDSP leadership team in accordance with the GDSP contract
Produce key reports for the client monthly meetings
Ensure the reports are accurate and informative for the end user
Support the Project Managers in their production of the monthly workstream Project on a Page (Poap)
Reports to be issued / distributed on time to ensure deadlines are achieved for all reporting requirements
Support the workstream Project Managers on additional details / information that will assist the PMs on any KPI shortfalls and improvement plans
Work collaboratively with all functions to enhance solid working relationships as one team across the GDSP.
Drive yourself and others to comply with all business policies, procedures and governance surrounding the Balfour Beatty Gated Lifecycle process
Contribute to developing a high performance culture of one team
Talk positively and listen actively across the business and the people within it
Who we're looking for
You will have the following qualities and experience :
A formal academic qualification relevant to the role
Any project management related experience would be preferrential
Experience of programme co-ordination / administration
Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
Good Knowledge and experience of Microsoft packages, including Project, Powerpoint, Word and Excel
Good interpersonal communications skills, both written and verbal
Understanding of the importance for detail and organisation
Skill at managing stakeholder groups and balancing diplomacy and tact with assertiveness
Excellent prioritisation skills to balance priorities
