Duration : Full Time, Permanent
Job Purpose :
To offer a high level of expertise and input to those young children and their families who face the greatest disadvantages and where additional support will assist in closing the attainment gap.
The post holder will be responsible for planning, coordinating and reporting on the impact of interventions to address the poverty related attainment gap. This will include :
Effectively identifying 'the gap' by working with individual children and families to develop baselines
Developing plans to support individual children and groups of individual children and families, these should be based on current national and international research
Tracking and reporting progress at family, establishment and city level to inform future work and empower others to close the poverty related attainment gap and feed into subsequent Pupil Equity Fund (PEF) Plans
Closely collaborating with a range of stakeholders and partners
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum :
HNC Early Education and Childcare / S / NVQ Level 3 Children's Care and Development / NNEB or equivalent plus B.A Childhood Practice / P.
D.A. Childhood Practice or nearing completion (i.e. working at / due to start level 9 in academic year 18 / 19) or B.Ed. in Primary Teaching
Registration with or eligibility to register with SSSC or GTCS.
PVG Membership for Regulated work with Children and / or Protected Adults or willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
The post holder is expected to demonstrate :
Ability to relate to and work effectively with children, parents, carers, the wider community and other professional colleagues.
Ability to assess children's development to extend their learning in a way that includes and motivates them.
Ability to communicate effectively. This will include non verbal, verbal and written forms of communication.
Good observational and listening skills.
Demonstrable experience of working within the ELC sector.
Experience of team working.
