Role Overview :

Highwaysis one of the business units that make up the Galliford Try InfrastructureDivision. Itdelivers projects for national and local clients.

The team has expandedin recent times and with strong project performance along with successful workwinning, we are continuing to build and re-

structure the business includingoperations for Highways England, Local Authorities and Highway Maintenance.

Thisrole will be working within our team dedicated to projects on behalf of Local Authorities,comprising of various road build, improvement and construction projects rangingfrom £1-

£25M in value. We are continuing to deliver and secure projectswith local authorities providing a continuous portfolio of projects in ourMidlands Region.

  • The view with this position will be to initially work on ascheme we have been awarded the enabling works for and anticipating fullproject award;
  • the scheme is a new road and bridge construction project in theBurton-On-Trent region valued £10M due to start May 2018.

    AsSite Engineer you will play an incremental part in the operations team, eitherdedicated to a single large project or on a number of smaller projects.

    As SiteEngineer, you will take responsibility for the overall engineering control andsite management functions, contributing to the coordination and management ofHealth & Safety, Quality Control, Documentation and budget control.

    Quality

  • Engineers will actively lead this initiative and will be responsible for monitoring the quality of the works in conjunction with the Test and Inspection Plan, maintaining as built records.
  • Site Management

  • Assist the Site Manager in the initial site set-up, ensuring Company systems and procedures are in place and implemented.
  • Rigorously apply effective planning techniques, methods analysis and controls to ensure the most effective and continuous use of resources.
  • Financial Controls

  • Assist the Site Manager and Quantity Surveying Department by compiling data to record resources utilised on each activity.
  • Support the implementation of strict financial controls on the payment of subcontractors, suppliers and operatives.
  • Setting Out

  • Co-ordinate site engineering control activities to satisfy contract programme requirements, delegating or carrying out setting out as necessary.
  • Ensure standard Company procedures are adopted in carrying out setting out operations, and that effective methods of communication are used in transmitting information to operatives and subcontractors.
  • Carry out as built’ surveys on completed works
  • Communication

  • Liaise and co-ordinate with all Head Office Departments to improve all levels of communication so as to benefit and develop overall Company objectives.
  • Safety

  • Actively support the Site Manager in maintaining and enforcing safety standards as required by statute and in accordance with the Company's Safety Policies.
  • Have a basic working knowledge of CBAB (Challenging Beliefs Affecting Behaviours)
  • Marketing

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining links with clients, determine customer satisfaction levels and develop contact points for post contract marketing.
  • Actively participate in generating a wider client base and producefeedback data to the Regional Manager.

    Experienceand Qualifications :

  • HNC / HND / Degree qualified in Civil Engineering orassociated Construction / Engineering related discipline
  • Capable at setting out with ability to use level andEDM. Knowledge of GPS is preferred
  • Experience in highway and new build construction ofstructures is essential.
