To manage the development and testing of the systems and strategies associated with lending, driving profitability, improving predictability and maintaining compliance.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Deliver and manage associated plans and targets to direct the development and delivery of effective Lending strategies that are aligned to the business objectives
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the controls, scoring systems, cut offs, policy rules and referral decisions, managing each to improve the accuracy and robustness of associated models
  • Managing and evaluating Lending strategy performance against agreed targets, applying corrective actions as and when required
  • Managing, guiding and quality assessing team’s champion / challenger’ strategy modelling and impact assessment activity, implementing champion’ strategies and ensuring each change is documented and reported
  • Managing and leading the creation of effective policies, processes and controls to support strategy development, deployment and understanding
  • Working in partnership with Ops to direct, coach and support strategy deployment
  • Working in partnership with Ops, Underwriting, FS Commercial, Marketing other Credit Risk teams to review and inform optimal strategy performance
  • Managing the robust and accurate budget, forecast and achievement of P&L
  • Creating, managing and reviewing MI reporting capabilities and reports, producing user friendly outputs for a range of stakeholders, providing insight into the performance of portfolio systems and strategies
  • The Person :

  • Experience of working within the retail, financial services sector
  • Experience of leading and managing credit risk strategy development
  • Extensive experience of working and delivering in a regulated environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of financial standards and guidelines e.g. FCA, TCF, Data Protection
  • Is delivery and customer focussed
  • Experience of managing and developing the performance of others
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively to meet changing priorities and demands
  • Ability to interpret data and information to highlight opportunities and minimise risk
  • Experience of risk management
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills
  • Proven track record in effective facilitation and communication at multiple levels
  • Is commercially astute
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at an appropriate level
  • Is analytical, pragmatic and systematic in approach to problem solving and maximising opportunities
  • Ability to manage conflict and knows when to escalate
