This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment for up to 12 months with the possibility of extension(s) and / or permanency.

All WA health system employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including the booster vaccination when they are eligible) in order to access health care facilities, pursuant to the Health Worker (Restrictions on Access) Directions (HWD) (or its replacement), COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination and Vaccination Program Policy, and the Booster Vaccination (Restriction on Access) Directions (no 2) (or its replacement) (BVD), unless the employee is exempt pursuant to the HWD and / or BVD.

Other Conditions : WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process.

Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant’s integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service.

In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.

Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.

Position Profile :

The Rehabilitation Technology Unit (RTU) is a specialist technology service within the Health Technology Management Unit (HTMU).

RTU is based in the State Rehabilitation Centre at Fiona Stanley Hospital with workshop facilities at Royal Perth Hospital.

RTU provides both inpatient and outpatient services to clients of EMHS and SMHS hospitals.

RTU’s complex technology services include the Rehabilitation Engineering Clinic, Orthotics and Prosthetic Service as well as the Communication and Assistive Technology Service.

The equipment officer will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes engineers, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, orthotic and prosthetic staff, nurses and technical officers.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing the equipment needs of the Rehabilitation Technology Unit. The role will include but is not limited to entering equipment movements into equipment databases, managing stores inventory, gatekeeping of wheelchair referrals, cleaning and disinfection of equipment returns, booking courier deliveries as well as coordinating wheelchair repairs.

The position requires a person with good technical, data entry and communication skills. Previous experience with assistive technology would be an advantage.

The position will be located at either Royal Perth Hospital or Fiona Stanley Hospital as required.
