Becoming a Financial Controller with Capita / AMT Sybex

An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide financial management and stewardship to a software business which is part of the Capita Software division within Capita plc.

What you will do :

The role reports to the FD for AMT Sybex who in turn reports to the Capita Software Divisional Finance Director.

With the assistance of a team of four the role is required to undertake the following responsibilities :

  • Manage the P+L for an end to end business.
  • Be an integral part of the management team, providing financial leadership
  • Manage the month end process (create and submit month end journals, review actuals and compare to the previous forecast, submit the forecast for the year (which is done monthly for the P+L and Balance Sheet), prepare the monthly report, prepare all balance sheet reports and reconciliations), deal with ad hoc questions / analysis from Group / Division.
  • Note month end is only expected to take approx. 1 week per month.

  • Prepare the Business Plan each year along with scenario analysis and review with the MD and FD.
  • Review operational metrics and use to develop the forecast.
  • Support the management team in understanding their costs and revenue trends.
  • Manage inter-company balances, forecast and analyse working capital for the financial year.
  • Support Group in preparing the Statutory Accounts
  • Support the Account Managers in bid preparation and modelling
  • Integrate acquisitions
  • Other Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all Capita policies, processes and procedures, proactively striving for continuous improvement
  • Coach and develop the Finance team (1 in Letchworth, 1 in Dublin and 2 in Belfast)

    Your experience will include :

    Graduate

    Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant post qualification experience

    Experience of financial management and control

    Good communicator (oral & written) with a proven ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial teams

    Strong Excel skills

    Proactive and a self starter

    Strong influencing skills

    Systems - SAP & Axiom

    Experience of managing staff

    The business has a turnover of approx. £40m, 300 staff across the UK & Ireland. Key clients are across the Utility & Transport sectors.

    Key product offerings Fieldreach (an enterprise mobility solution), Marketflow (dataflow management solution for Energy & Water companies), Meterflow (smart meter data management) in addition to niche offering for energy storage, aircraft leasing and cattle tracking.
