The role will give the candidate experience in working within a NPI (New Product Introduction) Buyer Department. Responsibilities will include : -
Purchasing assigned items and executes buying strategies set out by the function at optimum cost and lead times.
Analyse sourcing information and present finding for cost reduction, process improvement while maintaining a high quality product and delivery of service both within the function and customers both internal and external.
Involvement both supporting and leading various projects from conception to closure within cost and on time.
Procures inventory, supplies and capital goods, obtains quotations and raises orders on vendors.
Expedites orders to ensure that they are delivered on time in full.
Analyse sourcing and purchasing initiatives, follows processes in support of the delivery of cost effective and high quality goods and services.
Prepares and presents recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action to senior purchasing / sourcing leaders.
Understand and adhere to policies and procedures and champion the NPI purchasing common processes.
Supports purchasing / sourcing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, process analysis, market and industry research, model building.
Conducts minor supplier negotiations.
Training will include : -
Turbocharger and component knowledge.
Purchasing negotiation skills.
6 Sigma tools and how to apply to a project.
Excel and Microsoft skills.
NPI and PPT processes.
Ability to work independently as well as to work as part of a team.
Good Microsoft package experience
Demonstrates working to committed deadlines.
An understanding of MRP systems is ideal but not essential.
Basic knowledge of supply chain practices.
Structured approach to problem solving and of project management, combined with the ability to manage concurrent projects and deal with various priorities.
Awareness of purchasing ethics and risk management.
