Our IRI team are looking to expand with the appointment of a Tax Manager working with some of the largest and most prestigious of global clients.
The role sits in our Financial Services performance group and is part of the national IRI practice team.
Role and Responsibilities :
To work with our clients to prepare, manage and deliver successful R&D incentive claims;
To work real time with HMRC specialists to facilitate the agreement of R&D claims;
To be able to effectively manage and balance conflicting resourcing requirements between projects;
To lead by example across all aspects of the role including managing client relationships, developing our team members, attention to risk and technical quality and service delivery;
Work with senior staff at our clients and our engineering team to help identify qualifying projects and expenditure;
To lead and deliver comprehensive proposals, to think creatively and to lead and take part in presentations;
To project manage complex R&D global projects centred out of the UK;
To lead people including coaching and developing junior staff;
Build an internal network within the wider tax practice of the firm;
Help to establish and maintain strong client relationships with both new and existing clients.
Qualifications and Skills :
A qualified accountant (CA / ACA / ACCA) or chartered tax advisor (CTA) with R&D tax experience
Experience in preparing, reviewing and agreeing R&D claims;
Strong Excel capability, manipulating very large data sets (ideally you will also have knowledge of Alteryx);
Deep tax technical knowledge of the UK’s R&D tax incentives regime;
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal);
Broader knowledge of wider tax issues (including Patent Box);
Experience in dealing with and building relationships with senior employees within HMRC.
