We’re looking for a multi-skilled Senior Test Engineer who is able to develop a deep understanding of our highly complex electromechanical robotic systems and use that knowledge to solve manufacturing critical problems with a focus on robust test coverage for all safety critical functions of Versius.
You’ll be at the centre of an exciting and fast-growing business, and will work closely with the manufacturing teams and product development.
Your responsibilities will include :
Helping develop tools and processes that will enable us to support rapidly growing numbers of Versius systems on the manufacturing line
Analysis of failure modes throughout the manufacturing process to help inform future product and process improvements
Developing manual and automated testing of sub-assemblies through to finished product during manufacturing process, to ensure functional requirements are satisfied
Defining and maintaining Test related documentation such as Test Plans, Test Specifications, Test Protocols and reports, as required throughout medical device manufacturing life cycle
Creation of bespoke test environments and robust test rigs (software, hardware or combination of both) to enable execution of the test protocols with a high degree of repeatability
Identifying opportunities for early detection in the Production flow to minimise rework and optimise end-of-line yield
Identifying and implementing process improvements to streamline test activities and optimise flow of product
Generating and reviewing technical proposals, and provide estimates for the associated effort, costs and risks
Communicating across teams from multiple disciplines to ensure a shared understanding of functional changes to the product and associated diagnostics and testing strategies

We’d expect you to have a proven track record of applying your cross-disciplinary systems engineering skills in a product development and / or manufacturing environment.
We would also like you to :
Have experience in the design, manufacture, or field support of safety critical systems within a highly regulated industry
Be a technical expert in at least one from : mechanical design, software, electronics, or manufacturing engineering
Be comfortable switching between detailed analysis, and short-term containment of manufacturing-critical problems
Have an appreciation for manufacturing processes / environment
Robust technical documentation skills
Be familiar with risk management processes including RCA, FMEA and Hazard Analysis
Be excited by the opportunity to help develop and support team members and the chance to help shape and grow our team
In addition, any experience of the following would be advantageous :
Be comfortable with processing log files, database contents, Elastic Search, Python coding and source control
Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
Experience taking a product from early prototype to full production maturity
Experience of a highly regulated industry (e.g. medical devices or automotive)
Relevant experience in robotics or other complex electromechanical systems.
Experience in leading technical teams either in a line management or project management capacity.
