About the Role :

We are currently looking for Systems consultants at all stages of their career to join our Intelligent Transport Systems teams across the UK.

This position offers the opportunity to work within offices including Manchester, Birmingham, Guildford, Bristol and / or London.

The systems team provides strategy and systems design, specification and testing assurance and solution guidance to a range of internal and external clients.

Particularly in respect of the creation, development, management and deployment of the appropriate technical capability necessary for the successful delivery of our projects.

In conjunction with colleagues in other business units, contribute to the WSP-wide goal of maximising the value of our technical and managerial knowledge base.

A typical week would include :

  • The authoring of high quality technical reports, involving research, collection and analysis of data, review of options / scenarios and quantitative assessment to produce recommendations for our clients;
  • The authoring of technical standards, contract specifications and contract schedules, requiring high quality writing skills and attention to detail;
  • Assist in the interpretation of systems assurance related statutory and industry requirements, standards and practices and ensure that WSP’s ITS systems strategy works towards meeting those expectations.
  • Assist in the development and deployment of appropriate technical methodologies to support both proposals and project delivery;
  • Assist in the development of both internal and external (for client) strategies to ensure that both WSP and our clients are prepared for the next 1 / 3 / 5 years and beyond;
  • Assist in the development of necessary tools, techniques and resources to meet the emerging requirements of our market sectors;
  • Assist in the professional development of technical resources (including procedures for technical competence and staff assignment);
  • Develop, capture and share the collective knowledge of our workforce;
  • Support business development and client liaison to maintain pipeline consistent with budgetary goals;
  • We’d love to hear from you if you have :

  • Degree in a technical engineering or science related discipline, or extensive relevant experience.
  • Awareness of System Engineering, telecommunications and system assurance principles
  • Awareness of applying methodologies such as Systems Engineering, Agile, etc, and combining them for optimal solutions
  • Good client liaison skills, with the ability to work unsupervised and in teams
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience in systems / engineering at a senior level
