FundApps is a startup that helps investment managers monitor and comply with worldwide regulations. Our competition is stuck in the dark ages with slow, clunky, complicated user interfaces and installed software.

We're shaking up the industry - providing a beautiful & intuitive web-based service which takes away our customer's pains and lets them get on with what they do best.

Rapptr, our main product, isn't some shiny but vacant consumer app. There's real complexity both in terms of volumes of data that we deal with, and how we visualise the results of hundreds of rules running across thousands of portfolios - in a way that's simple, understandable and easy to manage.

We're a small team of smart, friendly people who collaborate closely and take pride in delivering amazing software and providing extraordinary customer support.

You’ll help shape what we work on and how we do it. You won’t be micro-managed or stuck in a rut. We work hard on challenging problems and have a good time doing it.

We believe focusing on automation, testing and code quality enables us to move faster than our competitors whilst delivering better software.

With 65 staff and offices spanning across 3 different continents, FundApps is looking for an Engineering Manager to help continue growth on a global scale.

People. Process. People or Process? As an Engineering Manager at FundApps you'll obsess about improving People and Process.

You will help a highly motivated and intelligent team hone their individual craft and, crucially, deliver high quality software at a sustainable pace.

You will report to the CTO and work alongside another Engineering Manager to nurture the next generation of FundApps Engineering leaders and promote top of the range engineering practices.

You will be responsible for :

  • Contributing to an engineering culture which is open, confident, tolerant and results-focused
  • Continuous development and growth of your people
  • Honing repeatable working practices to deliver high quality software at a sustainable pace
  • Our technology stack

We use the best tools for the job and you'll have full input into what our stack evolves into. We're currently using :

  • Front-end : React, Redux, Webpack, Gulp, Jest, Jasmine
  • Back-end : C#, Golang, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ
  • Others : AWS, HAProxy, Atlas, Terraform, Packer, SumoLogic, TeamCity, Octopus, Selenium, Sentry
  • Requirements

What we are looking for :

  • You enjoy helping others to fulfil their potential. You probably already have line management experience for a number of software engineers and have been involved in the cycle of guidance, progression and review conversations.
  • You might have had to make difficult decisions about team members.

  • You are passionate about delivering software. You understand the application of techniques that allow teams to excel and make outstanding contributions repeatedly.
  • Maybe you introduced these ways of working to a team?

  • You are a pragmatist who believes in strong opinions weakly held. What works in one context doesn't work in another. You've probably practiced several flavors of Agile, Lean and XP at various points in your career and have a sense of what works, where and why.
  • You enjoy rolling your sleeves up and diving in. You spot those jobs that just need doing and are humble enough to crack on and get it sorted.
  • You'll probably automate it out of existence if it happens more than twice.

NOTE : Covid-19 has taken us out of our London office so we'll be running our recruitment and onboarding process virtually.
