HR Generalist-1800585Position title : Human Resources AdvisorLocation : London, HammersmithReports to : Senior Human Resources ManagerContract Type : Permanent, Part time Job Summary The Human Resources Advisor will be responsible for supporting and representing HR operations in the London offices, providing a comprehensive personnel service to management and all employees, assisting managers in all aspects of the employment relationship in the London offices.
Manage the development, implementation and evaluation of personnel policies, procedures and practices and the development of the HR function.
Reporting to the Senior HR Manager UK & Nordics this role is responsible for delivering a general HR support function to the London offices & team with occasional tasks relating to the wider UK Newell population. Key responsibilities :
Liaise with and build strong professional relationship with all EMEA Divisional HRBPs who have employees based in London.
To provide support in relation to all Employee Relations Issues and managing the administration of all HR systems and processes
The HR Advisor is responsible for the administration of all people related matters such as attendance management, compensation and benefits, employment law, employee relations, organizational development, performance management, recruitment, reward and recognition, succession planning and training and development.
To advise line managers in all aspects of the recruitment and selection and induction processes. This will include participating in selection interviews in conjunction with Talent Acquisition as necessary.
To assist in introduction of new or revised policy and process issues, including delivery of local workshops, ensuring that line managers are appropriately equipped and supported on an on-
going basis in introducing and managing such changes.
To develop and implement London Induction for all new starters for the London office.
To promote and monitor the use of Return to Work, Probation and Exit interviews, escalating any concerns to the Senior HR Manager.
To provide on-going line management briefing and coaching, through one to one or group learning sessions, to ensure consistent application of company policy and adherence to best practice in the management of all people management issues.
To advise and support line managers in the handling of all employee relations matters.
To support the business in resolving matters of conflict at the earliest opportunity and providing an independent mediation role where appropriate and to be involved in an advisory capacity in the management of any formal processes within these areas and to attend formal hearings.
To investigate sensitive and complex situations as requested by the Senior HR Manager and to act as the decision making manager in the progression of such cases as may be necessary.
To escalate concerns in relation to HR business risk where advice is not acted upon appropriately.
To act as advisor in the appropriate revision of job descriptions and person specifications in readiness for job evaluation in conjunction with Total Reward.
To ensure the impact of change on other roles and responsibilities is assessed.
To agree with line managers in determining appropriate reward and recognition levels, through accurate and timely management of relevant appraisal and reward schemes.
To assist the UK Payroll Manager in gaining further information around potential tax issues relating to expenses and monitoring the governance of Short Term Business Visitors reporting.
To manage legal immigration checks for the London office escalating any visa status issues to the Senior HR Manager in a timely manner.
To assist the London office Manager in space allocation and planning.
To monitor and analyse data including turnover rates, absence, equal opportunities information, health & safety issues and trends etc.
reporting to managers / Senior HR Manager with recommendations for future action.
To monitor both short and long-term sickness, advising line managers and ensuring that staff are managed in accordance with policy, to enable return to work at the earliest opportunity and that, where necessary, rehabilitation programs are in place, liaising with 3rd party external health providers.
To ensure offers of employment and associated contract documentation are within HR policy, including appropriate employment checks.
Provide policy advice and guidance to all employees requiring assistance and providing options for individual support as appropriate.
To provide regular updates to line management on key activities.
Knowledge and Experience
Sound up to date knowledge of UK Employment Law
Flexible in approach to working hours to accommodate emergencies requiring HR advice and support.
Resilience and a proven track record of working within a fast paced constantly changing environment
Experience of working in a complex multi-site matrix organisation
High level of computer literacy
Ability to effectively multi task
Sound judgment and decision-taking
Ability to challenge managers where required
Hands on Employment Tribunal / Personal Injury Claim respondent experience..
Part CIPD Qualified or equivalent experience
Two years + of progressive experience in a Human Resources position.
Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.
Strong interpersonal skills both oral and written.
Strong understanding of UK Employment legislation and regulations.
