Southern Water are looking for an Asset & Configuration Manager to join their head office In Durrington, on a permanent basis.
The Asset & Configuration Manager is accountable for defining and managing the Service Asset & Configuration Management policy and processes.
It is responsible for governing the quality and accuracy of data held within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
It is also responsible for ensuring integration with the other IT Service Management processes such as Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management.
Agreeing assets to be uniquely identified with naming conventions and ensuring all IT personnel comply with identification standards for object types, environments, processes, lifecycles, documentation, versions, formats, baselines, releases and templates.
Proposing, agreeing and managing interfaces with change management, problem management, network management, release management, computer operations, logistics, finance and administration functions
Reviewing the Asset and Configuration Management processes on a regular basis for efficiency and effectiveness ensuring any agreed changes to the processes are properly approved and communicated.
Controlling and managing the configuration & asset management database, perform change evaluation based on information received assessing quality of requests for change (RFC) to the Asset & CMDB for comprehensive accuracy and lead times.
Coordinate all configuration management database changes which directly or indirectly impact non production environments or production services according to the agreed and published Change Control policy.
To identify, control, record, report, audit and verify configuration items, including versions, baselines, constituent components, their attributes and relationships.
Knowledge / experience :
Relevant IT technical field and service management experience
5 years+ experience in leading in Service Asset and Configuration Management in a challenging environment is desirable.
Experience and strong subject matter expertise with IT Service Management processes including Configuration, Change, Incident, Problem and Release Management.
Well-versed on ITIL Service Lifecycle Management Processes - ITIL v3 certification.
Experience with IT Service Management toolsets (e.g. Service Now, Microsoft SCCM)
Current experience of assets and CMDB models and methodology.
