As Head of UK Compliance, you will provide exemplary and commercially astute legal advice as part of Sky’s Group Legal Compliance & DP function, playing a pivotal role in promoting, guiding and assisting Sky UK to maintain a strong compliance culture.
What you'll do :
Act as the Lead Legal Adviser and Compliance Officer for Sky’s UK and Ireland businesses and markets (the territories )
Report to and support the Group and Deputy Chief Compliance Officers to fulfil their duties in relation to the territories as well as supporting Group initiatives
Dotted line reporting to the UKI General Counsel for the effective reporting and management of escalated compliance matters affecting the territories.
This position requires close collaboration and proactive partnering with senior stakeholders who hold audit, risk management, HR, security, legal and operational compliance responsibilities in the territories.
Areas covered include :
Provide specialist, sound, practical and commercially astute legal advice and support on Sky’s substantive compliance risks, including being a Compliance subject matter expert in the areas of Anti-Bribery & Corruption / FCPA / UK Bribery Act, Anti-Tax Evasion / UK CFA, UK Anti-Money Laundering, and UK Sanctions and Whistleblowing laws
Lead, implement and manage Sky Group’s CRM programme in the territories, reporting to and co-ordinating with Group Compliance to ensure appropriate alignment and oversight
Collaborate on Group-wide compliance initiatives , including implementing frameworks for the effective operation of Sky’s Group compliance activities in the territories
Conduct and / or guide business risk assessments and monitoring to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk;
develop / implement risk mitigation and corrective action plans for areas of heightened risk, and provide advice and guidance on how to avoid or manage similar situations in the future;
Collaborate to ensure that risks, complaints and incidents are appropriately identified, evaluated, investigate d and resolved in a timely and effective manner and to assure against future issues;
Coordinate and implement an effective compliance training programme, including promoting compliance tone at the top, heightening awareness among employees, and aligning and educating staff regarding current and emerging risks and trends.
This includes leading in-person training sessions, teleconferences and webinars to foster increased understanding of key compliance risks;
What you'll bring :
UK legally qualified professional, with significant post-qualification experience advising on compliance-related risks in a complex multi-national business or highly regulated sector.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience of advising on Antis and related legislation.
Proven ability to develop and operate compliance frameworks and policies, and conduct risk assessments, internal investigations and training.
Proven experience of leading and developing people.

Can demonstrate up to date industry compliance knowledge and ability to respond effectively to developments
Superior influencing skills with extensive experience of operating at the most senior level and managing multiple stakeholders with varying priorities in different territories, in a collaborative, positive and proactive manner.
Experience of working in a heavily matrixed organization with an understanding of cultural characteristics / differences for successful delivery of outcomes.
A strong standout colleague with an ability to manage and motivate a team and provide a positive lead for others.
Sound business judgment, ability to operate in a commercial manner and respond quickly and pragmatically to urgent situations, be able to manage multiple wide-ranging, complex and high-profile matters, and prioritize and resolve issues promptly, proactively and effectively.
A track record of using creative thinking to reach positive outcomes
Ability to be tenacious and think laterally in a wide and varied role and fast-moving organisation. Flexibility / adaptability to manage new areas of expertise as businesses change and develop.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, able to express ideas and proposals clearly and succinctly in ways which build trust and confidence with the business
