DRG Abacus is a dynamic, highly successful market access consultancy within the Global Access division of DRG & specialises in evidence-

based medicine and market access. DRG Abacus provide consultancy to clients across the product life and produce a wide range of quality deliverables including value dossiers, economic models, health technology assessments (HTAs), payer communication tools, formulary packs and journal articles.

DRG Abacus also have a team of developers who produce innovative and creative software including web and database solutions that communicate the cost and clinical benefits of newly launched drugs and medical devices to NHS decision makers.

We are looking for experienced and motivated consultants to join the team and support the implementation of our vision and growth targets for DRG Abacus.

Details of the role and responsibilities are provided below.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic direction and commercial objectives

  • Provide strategic advice that demonstrates understanding, experience and authority by offering effective solutions to project teams and clients to meet their needs
  • Identify critical issues / opportunities and make recommendations on potential courses of action for the client
  • Actively contribute to thought leadership and marketing activities
  • Project management and delivery

  • Prepare and manage project plans
  • Brief and manage project teams
  • Liaise with the client
  • Manage implementation from concept through to delivery on multiple projects
  • Take full responsibility for the quality of the end deliverable
  • Ensure projects are delivered within the agreed timelines and budget
  • Contribute to the delivery of the projects as required
  • Business development

  • Responsible for sustaining and maximising business from existing clients
  • Responsible for developing new business with existing clients in different service areas of with new clients
  • Prepare proposals and present at client pitches
  • Contribute to the overall business sales target according to individually agreed key performance indicators
  • Attend conferences and exhibitions, promoting and representing DRG Abacus where required
  • Create and maintain a high-presence profile with clients that turns a sales relationship into a commercial partnership
  • Network within lead accounts to identify all key influencers and decision makers
  • Develop innovative ideas in which to promote and win business
  • Project financial management and administration

  • Undertake the necessary project-related administrative activities
  • Keep effective records of your working time, and ensure project teams are recording their time accurately (CMAP)
  • Ensure the planning and timely implementation of invoice schedules
  • Provide monthly deferred income and forecasting information for all projects managed
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, economics or related discipline
  • Experience of working in consultancy or industry background, with proven knowledge and understanding of project deliverables including at least two of the following : strategic evidence planning, systematic review, value dossiers, health economics, HTA, value communications, digital tools
  • Demonstrable project management experience
  • Demonstrable business development experience
  • Experience of working in a client facing role and presenting to senior teams
  • A good understanding of what it takes to maintain and develop the most productive client relationships
  • A strategic thinker able to provide advice to project teams and develop strong business plans
  • A hands on consultant who is exceptional with clients
  • First class communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage own time and others time to meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, and flexible with an ability to cope with competing demands
