To provide legal support and legal and reputational risk management for structured finance, securitisation and debt capital market (DCM) transactions and activities undertaken within the structured finance and DCM businesses in EME and to provide support to the banking legal team more generally in connection with the execution of the strategic priorities of the function and the firm.

Your Role

  • Providing legal and reputational risk management support for structured finance and DCM transactions and activities and ensuring that legal coverage is provided in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Providing advice and support on transactional, regulatory and governance matters and providing legal and transaction management support across the full suite of structured finance business activities and products and debt capital markets more broadly.
  • Acting as an escalation point for risk events and issues, operating as a trusted adviser to the Global Financing Solutions -
  • Securitised Products, FiRM asset finance, Credit Structuring, Debt Capital Markets, Investment Grade Syndicate and wider structured finance and DCM teams.

  • Providing senior support on all legal aspects of firm and functional regulatory and strategic change projects applicable to the structured finance and DCM business.
  • Representing Barclays to external stakeholders and participation in industry / trade associations in connection with the structured finance business.
  • Collaborating closely with compliance and other infrastructure teams on cross-functional issues relevant to the structured finance and DCM business and helping to ensure an appropriate governance framework is in place at all times.
  • Delivering updates on relevant legal, regulatory and governance matters to senior management within both legal and the front office.
  • Essential Skills / Basic Qualifications :

  • Qualified lawyer (would consider non-UK qualified, for example US)
  • Top tier capital markets / corporate private practice, though would consider an applicant currently in-house or who had previous in-
  • house experience at a top tier financial institution

  • Subject matter expert in structured finance investment banking products and relevant financial regulation
  • Broad knowledge of a range of securitisation and structured finance products and transactions including ABS, RMBS, synthetic securitisations, ABCP, secured syndicated facilities, covered bonds and CLOs.
  • Desirable skills / Preferred Qualifications :

  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced, complex and multi-dimensional environment, and to demonstrate an adaptable style and be comfortable working across all levels of the organisation
  • A strong commercial attitude with a deep interest in the drivers of performance and passion for improving things
  • A flexible approach to work, including a preparedness to roll up his / her sleeves when necessary to get the job done and also capable of managing (upwards / downwards) at a distance
  • Communicates highly technical qualitative analysis and advice in a clear and concise manner to a legal and non-legal audience, both orally and in writing
