About the project

These are exciting times for the Interserve Construction business which has embarked upon a Creating Sustainable Value change programme building on already strong foundations to create a modern and successful business.

A key enabler to achieving the above is becoming a manufacturing organisation, using production line techniques, and defaulting to offsite manufacture.

In the above context we are delighted to have been selected to work in partnership with Yorkshire Water on Four Frameworks incorporating Civils and MEICA disciplines to deliver fantastic infrastructure, brilliantly and to make things better for current and future generations.

We have committed to working collaboratively with Yorkshire Water, our valued strategic suppliers and other stakeholders to embed MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) to realise leading safety, health and wellbeing, quality, customer service, sustainability and efficiency performance improvements.

What you will be doing

  • Overall responsibility for working with our designer (Wood PLC) and suppliers to successfully deliver all electrical requirements across a project portfolio.
  • Work with commercial team to procure all off and on site manufactured electrical requirements.
  • Closely monitor the progress of off and onsite activities to ensure delivery against agreed programmes and budgets.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture and environment on your projects to support improved wellbeing and performance.
  • Responsible for undertaking factory inspections and quality audits and ensuring the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction for all electrical installations.
  • Ensure that all electrical equipment and components are installed in compliance with BS7671.
  • Carry out NICEIC Qualified Supervisor duties.
  • Your Responsibilities

  • Safety, Health and Wellbeing : Positively contribute to delivering Interserve and Yorkshire Water’s intended goals in respect to being a leader in this field , actively support ventures and promotions in this area .
  • Productivity : Work with others to achieve a step change in productivity which will include implementing robust electrical design, manufacture and installation quality management to achieve right first time .
  • Customer Focus : Establish and maintain trusting and effective relationships with Yorkshire Water Operations and other stakeholders, delivering excellent customer service throughout project delivery.
  • Culture : Fully embrace Interserve Construction’s and Yorkshire Water’s cultural vision and consistently champion collaborative behaviours and our other core values.
  • Develop Sustainable Solutions : Display a sound knowledge of sustainable construction solutions and manage engineering activities that contribute to sustainable development.
  • Digital Engineering : Work with our designer (Wood PLC) and the supply chain to optimise the benefits of using digital tools and expertise to integrate our off and on site delivery approach.
  • Design Collaboration : Use the BIM model to ensure that electrical designs and installations are fully integrated with the civils and mechanical designs.
  • Engineering Proposals and Design : Technical expertise in the placement and administration of sub-contracts and material orders relating to Electrical equipment.
  • Preparation for, vetting and approval of supplier's proposals and designs in accordance with specified requirements.

  • Supply Chain : Fully integrate and engage with the supply chain to assess and develop their capabilities so that they positively contribute to our delivery capability and capacity.
  • Supervision : Supervise electrical installation works ensuring health and safety, technical and quality compliance.
  • Effective planning : Develop logical and accurate electrical works programmes and integrate with overall project plan.
  • Reporting : Report on electrical works programme and cost performance and attend project production meetings.
  • Quality assurance : Develop quality assurance plans and maintain quality assurance records in accordance with Interserve’s and Yorkshire Water’s documented requirement.
  • Outage Management : Work with Yorkshire Water Operations and other stakeholders to meticulously plan and successfully deliver outages.
  • Commissioning : Assisting Commissioning Engineers for loop testing and pre-commissioning electrical checks.
  • Handover Plans , Handover Documentation and Soft Landings : Contribute to the production and collation of electrical documentation to allow the smooth transition from Construction to Handover this will include , but not be limited too, operating and maintenance manuals , as built records , electrical Testing data .
  • There will also be a requirement to work with the Supply Chain to ensure all documentation is produced in a timely manner in line with the programme .

    To also provide / assist with Operating and maintenance training and documentation for all Yorkshire Water personnel as part of the Handover Process.

    Supporting our Production Line approach

  • Work closely with our teams and supply chain partners to enhance their production line maturity.
  • Embrace and implement production line approach on site including programme and logistics.
  • Ensure the project / package teams challenge production line operations, achieving progress against plans and escalating and promptly resolving issues.
  • Developing and managing production controls, driving continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that management reporting is accurate and prompt.
  • Driving continuous improvement of data analysis and reporting.
  • Line Management Responsibilities

  • Works as part of the Production Delivery Team.
  • Line manager is Project Engineering Manager.
  • Operationally accountable to Project Managers.
  • Directly supervises electrical suppliers throughout delivery.
  • What we'll need from you

  • Display a high degree of technical knowledge and have relevant electrical project engineering experience within a manufacturing or construction organisation.
  • Must have an excellent knowledge of control panel design, cable sizing / calculations and instrumentation. ICA skills are desirable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills who can multi-task and consistently meet challenging deadlines.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Experience of both pre-production and production electrical project engineering desirable.
  • Has an appreciation of MMC, Lean Construction, Agile Programme Management, Production Thinking and other techniques that assure programme, cost and quality performance.
  • Programme focused with an ability to plan and organise resources both off and on site to deliver on time and in full.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a range of people. Produce electrical test documentation and sign off completion certificates in accordance with BS7671.
  • BIM / digital experience is essential.
  • Minimum HNC qualified in an electrical engineering subject desirable.
  • IT literacy essential.
  • Professional qualification is desirable.
  • EUSR water Hygiene Card is desirable
  • SMSTS and CSCS / ECS card is desirable
